We visited the bistro at the Black Sheep. A moderate unexciting meal. Yes the pub grub menu was maybe very bistro, but the prices weren't. I expected something more substantial for the salmon salad though. Not very generous portions. The sweet potato fries were overcooked...and flabby. On the plus side, the beers were excellentMore

Surprisingly good lunchtime nosh. Expected normal sandwiches and salad, got huge servings of fancy open sandwiches and fries. Plus beer I remember from student days, happy staff, and a cool brewery vibe. So chuffed I made a point of going over and thanking the kitchen...staff.More

Open, on a Sunday! Not like Theakstons Tap room was great, food great, and the bar staff extremely helpful with recommendations for drinks such as… “Tea? This is a brewery!” And “Yorkshire day tomorrow, £1.29 a pint for the best as that’s what it was...when we opened.”More

Visited masham for two days which we do generally every year but felt we need to mention Karen in the bistro who does a fabulous job. Very friendly, very efficient, can’t believe she is leaving. To the Black Sheep management, you need to look after...your staff front of house / business who are the must important people who make us customers feel special and want to come back time after time. Good luck Karen in your new jobMore

Popped into the bistro after the brewery tour. We were spoilt for choice but eventually opted for a couple of sandwiches. I had the ham sandwich topped with Welsh rarebit and it was excellent, my partner had the posh fish finger sandwich which was equally...as good. I’d happily travel back for the food alone. It’s nice to see somewhere that welcomes dogs too.More

Great visit- lovely food. Friendly staff. Didn't have to wait too long to be served. Lots of drinks to choose from - cover many different preferences. Have visited before and will come back again. However it does seem to be expensive

Nice beer but very disappointing sandwiches. No brown bread, no butter on bread ,Wensleydale cheese grated and loose. Not worth £10.

Standards falling….. We have made a couple of visits in recent months…..the first visit this year, the Bistro was full of dogs. Not just the odd one or two, but almost every table….way too many…..not what I was expecting…..never seen so many in a restaurant....Is this really the target customer group? The food was OK but not a patch on previous visits…..but the fish was way over cooked……blitzed….. This was also the case at our recent visit. Food quality had fallen away again…. On the positive….the staff are always great…efficient, chatty….nothing wrong with the front of house. In my humble opinion the menu needs a refresh….and the quality in the kitchen needs to be vastly improved.More
