Visited twice during our 6 days at the Anantara. It’s a 20-30 minute walk that did not seem to deter the large numbers of our fellow guests who were eating there alongside us. And the reason was simply that they offer excellent and very affordable Thai food. The restaurant seems to have quite a reputation and as mentioned in other reviews a booking is a good idea. We got there early the first night we visited and managed to get a table but 30 mins later there were queues of people waiting outside for a table. After an excellent meal we booked a table for our return visit. Many others were doing the same.

We stayed at the new Anantara resort which is amazing but love to eat local food & support the locals. Well we ended up eating here every night it’s so good. I always worry a little on food safety well no worry here I ate everything and drank mango shakes. Shout out to the spring rolls, crispy prawns, massaman curry, Penang curry and the cashew chicken and phad Thai oh and the pineapple fried rice and the portions are huge. This family run business is very special. They will pick you up and drop you off at Anantara, She doesn’t want money but we gave her a a small tip ( gas is expensive ) Warning it can get busy if you want an outside table or not to wait in line book ahead! It’s just like everywhere in the world when food is that good it’s busy. They also offer boat trips, laundry and there’s a massage place run by the aunties outdoor right around the corner that we went to 3 times before dinner. It’s a true gem of food

After a recommendation, myself and my partner visited this "more upscale" and expensive restaurant for dinner. To cut a long story short, I ordered the spicy chicken. After having a mouthful or 2 I was very pleased with the meal, 3rd mouthful onwards I kept getting randomly cut large bits of ginger in my mouth ( very unpleasant when it is not finely chopped or grated ). After this kept happening I called someone over to tell them the issue with the meal. I politely told them my problem with the dish and the lady I was speaking with denied there was ginger in the meal and tried to convince me it was garlic!! How in gods name can i confuse garlic for ginger?!?! in the meantime to my surprise she is digging through my food on my plate trying to prove her point. I sent the dish away. She came back eventually with the bill (obviously no deduction) and I asked her if she asked the kitchen what it was, she walked off mid conversation to the kitchen to ask. She came back and said that she asked the chef and was told it was not ginger but a type of yellow ginger and STILL tried to convince me that it was not ginger. After this I gave up, paid and left. Go for cheaper restaurants (much better) unless you like chewing on big bits of ginger and getting your food dug through by staff. Good luck

Stayed at Koh Yao Yai Village, and had read about this restaurant in advance. Rented scooters at the same place one day, and private Longtail boat the next day, at very good prices. Dinner there tonight and they served surprisingly good and affordable dishes. Recommended!! Thanks for the great experiences 🙏

This is absolutely Must-Go-To place! Yes, in Thailand almost every place offers great food but I really recommend to visit Chill Chill @Pai. We stayed at the local hotel and visited the restaurant almost every day. Sometimes you need to book a table as they are really busy (tells you already something) . The food is always freshly prepared, the staff is exceptionally nice and helpful and they will never turn you away. The menu is very good and you can’t get bored with it. We tried to eat everyday something new but our favourite was Thai Fried rice with crispy fried chicken. Absolutely fantastic dish and we have never had such a lovely chicken. If we come back to the area next year, this will be definitely a place we will come back to. Thank you everyone at Chill Chill @Pai for a fantastic food

Best Restaurant in town!! During our 6 Nights at the neatby Anantara Resort we ate every single night here- super delicious Thai food - try the Penang Curry, the yum seafood salad and pad krapow gai and definately leave some space for the mango sticky rice afterwards. Super friendly and lovely people there!!! Thank you-

Don't be fooled by appearances at this little restaurant on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. The Thai cuisine is excellent, as evidenced by the attendance. If you have the choice, sit on a table outside, which is quieter. Then be patient in case of crowds because order taking and service can be very long. But it's definitely worth it. All the dishes are delicious and very generous, flavors, variety, presentation, it's flawless and with attentive service: the best restaurant on the island! We have returned several times with great pleasure.

Restaurant on the side of the road. Very welcoming and well attended to by the girls. We ordered green beef curry with white rice, chicken satay, fried squid, vegetable rolls. Everything was freshly made and delicious. We paid about €16

This is an amazing restaurant! Such great food, fantastic service and wonderful value (much cheaper and tastier than the resort). Really friendly and kind, they booked our island boat trip for us which was fantastic value and much cheaper than the resort and other booking companies. The kids loved the frigid shakes and Italian sodas. The food was amazing, particular highlights were the Fried Chicken and rice and the Beef Kraprow. So good. They serve alcohol too which for a predominantly Islamic island, was appreciated. Thank you for looking after us!

Highly rated deep fried prawns on my prawn eating mission across SE Asia

We had dinner at this restaurant twice even though it was 12kms from our resort. Hired a scooter and travelled on sealed roads that were well lit. First night we shared 5 large chicken satays for the appetiser with a delicious peanut sauce and pickled vegetables. Main course was the best green curry on our 10 month trip. Second night we ate fabulous prawns. They were a good size, in a tasty batter with a nice plum sauce. Our beef in curry sauce was nice but it was too spicy for our taste. We asked for no spice but had to accept a little spice given it was a curry. It contain a good quantity of beef. The pina coladas were yummy. They have a full bar to dine-in . Beer, water, and soft drinks available for take away. No pork here.

We recommend this little restaurant a thousand percent. We stayed 3 nights with family in ko yao yai and we had dinner there all 3 evenings. Succulent dishes, everything is homemade and fresh!!!! And above all a more than warm welcome, always a smile and lots of kindness. We even shed our little tears with our daughters when we left this evening!!! Restaurants like we don’t find anymore today!!! Our favorite of our vacation!!!! Thank you for everything to the whole team of waiters, waitresses, cooks and cooks, you are at the top!!!

You can eat excellently there, all the dishes were extremely delicious, although we only ever ate fish or seafood. From our point of view, the prices were not expensive at all. The service and the friendliness of the staff I can only emphasize again. The owner of the restaurant drove us to several ATMs in her car, but none of them worked. For this she went to her bank again the next morning and exchanged money for us. For this, Hans and Gaby from Bavaria thank you again. I think that was not our last visit there.

Amazing place - fantastic service, delicious food, nice atmosphere, competitive prices. I highly recommend it. A big thank you to the girls from Chili Chili and congratulations on the standard of the place. A great alternative to the restaurant in a nearby hotel (where, it must be admitted, the cuisine is of a very high standard). We were there three times (over a 4-day stay) and were always satisfied. Upon request, they will do whatever you want for the children - fries, nuggets, even though they are not on the menu. When the girls found out that we were leaving, we received a small farewell gift - I was terribly touched by it.

One of the best place to eat in Koh Yao Yai. Tasty and fresh food, very friendly staff. You can have your food served as you want from not spicy at all to a real Thai experience. I enjoy this place every single times
