The Fish and Anchor in Offenham has been under new management since June 2020. The Fish and Anchor is the place to come if you are looking for a friendly pub with great homemade, fresh and local food at good prices. The Fish and Anchor is fronted by the River Avon, the inside has been refurbished to a high standard, outside there is a lovely large sunny beer garden with plenty of space for children. There is also a paddock offering electric hook up for tourers and camping. The Fish and Anchor is a great place to meet up with friends with a glass of wine, in front of the roaring log fires on a cold winters day, or a glass of something chilled in the garden on warm summer evenings. Hi, Went to the Fish and Anchor today. It looks quite nice next to the river and garden views some hill scenery. Im afraid its a bit of a shambles, I've only given 2 stars for the entertainment value which may be slightly unkind but...was priceless. This pub is in a low cost village but charges £23 for lamb and £25 for a 5oz steak. That would be fine in an established restaurant. I was met with a staff that was numerous but appeared to be sourced from a recruitment day at the local middle school. I wish them well but they didn't have a clue and were clearly very nervous. At one point a youngster held knives and forks in our face and I had to request he give us one of each as he offered a hand of forks and one of knives. When our food arrived he said 'did you order food'. We all start somewhere but this became farcical. The price point simply doesn't match the service. At one point the garden was surveyed from a window by a staff member and it looked like a horror movie creepy scene. You also have to pay at the bar every time you want a drink and there was no service which was a bit cringe for £5 pints and £20 mains. I dont mean to be mean to other reviewers of this restaurant/pub but they clearly don't get out much!More

I read some of the poor reviews before taking a leap of faith and decided to try it last Saturday and wow, what a pleasant surprise. The food was excellent, service was 1st class and it was a super atmosphere with some live music going...on in the pub. All the staff were very attentive and friendly and we all had a memorable evening. Thank you Fish and Anchor and we will be back soonMore

Fantastic service from all the staff. Kevin the boss has a resemblance to David Essex,Sean the chef created the most fantastic food the 4 of us had eaten absolutely stunning. He made chips not frozen and the apple and rhubarb crumble was just wow.More

With reviews like that you're 'gonna make me a star'! Even 'on a Winters day' you lit up the place and created 'all the fun of the fair'. 'Rock on' and 'hold me close' when thinking about your next visit. Seriously, great to meet you...More

Many thanks for your kind response and we are pleased that you enjoyed the food, the pub and the team. It's great when we get positive comments given the extremely challenging times with staff shortages, increasing prices and all the doom and gloom around us....More

On the spur of the moment we decided to drive here as was a nice sunny afternoon and sat outside and ordered our meals.it wasn't too busy even though the caravan site was still quite busy. My husband ordered scampi and I ordered battered halloumi...and both were delicious. The time waited was not long. The young lad delivered them was very polite and helpful. Asking if we had got everything we needed and also checking on us during and after meal .a lovely young lad.this is second trip to this gem of a pub since we've felt safe enough to venture out again and eat out since covid and won't be the last. ThanksMore

8 of us booked for dinner and it was a disaster start to finish. Table wasn’t ready when we arrived, initial Drinks order wasn’t right, starters took ages to come and despite the waitress checking the number of meals, one was missed completely, waitress disappeared...and after a long delay the manager appears apologising it’s not even been cooked. The mixed grill we had was pretty cremated and generally the standard of food has dropped significantly since our last visit. Definitely more ‘brake brothers’ quality and ping ding cuisine than it was before.Covid as an excuse only goes so far, this was down to a lack of staff training - waitress didn’t show her face when it was discovered the meal was missing. Funnily enough the manager kindly said she wouldn’t charge us for the missing meal… how kind?!? Disappointing, former repeat customers, wont be backMore

We visit fairly regularly as the pub is within walking distance from home. Staff are friendly and it’s never a long wait to be served. We had a meal today and the burger was huge! Obviously freshly made and nicely presented. The pie was really...nice too. Our Collie knows that he gets a doggy ice cream on each visit so he pulls us in through the door and enjoys a friendly welcome too.More

A visit at 6:30 pm on a Saturday for a takeaway. The restaurant was empty but was informed they were too busy and were not doing takeaways. We have been loyal customers over the last 5 years but won’t be back. What a poor way...to run a hospitality business.More
