Good food and beer following an enjoyable drive up the back roads of the Welsh border. Get a cosy window seat in the bar.

After a day's walking in the Shropshire Hills we had dinner here. When we reserved our table we were asked to make our menu choices in advance which can be a bit irritating trying to decide what you want before you go. However, it meant...More

We came back for a second visit although we don't live in the area and it was just as good as we remember it. The food is interesting and well priced and the decor and ambience are also good. The staff are helpful and friendly...More

Very enjoyable evening meal. We had the lamb stew and fish/chips. Both absolutely delicious. Among the best fish and chips I have tasted! Bigger than it looks from the outside, this historic pub is very cosy and welcoming. We could have stayed there all night....More

Arrived at pub at 2.30 on Thursday afternoon. Just missing the kitchen, but they kept it open for us and made us some great sandwiches. Many Thanks! Beer was very nice, and well recommended. Pub is dog friendly - which was the original motivator for...More

Four of us enjoyed a pleasant lunch here with an interesting range of real ale brewed on the premises. Well worth a visit.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was excellent, the (own-brewed) beer was very tasty and they're dog-friendly. What more could you want?

Description
The famous and historic Three Tuns Inn, (known locally as 'The Tuns') set at the top of Bishops Castle has been open since 1642! A deceptively large interior offers lounge, conservatory, snug, front bar and function room. Standing on the site of the oldest licensed brewery in the U.K, The Tuns offers modern eclectic cuisine using simple locally sourced ingredients in a happy, friendly, bustling environment and of course serves a wonderful array of real ales from the on site brewery. Pub and brewery are now separate businesses, but work very closely together to help create a truly worthwhile and memorable visit to this hidden gem of a market town, hidden away in the Shropshire hills, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.
