Highly recommend this experience. Their main focus is berry wines; not wines made from grapes. Very interesting. The owner is extremely friendly and informative. He proudly explains the process of producing berry wines. The medium white currant was my favorite. The others were good, but...that white currant was fantastic! Recommend stopping by this place for a tasting. I believe they also serve food but didn't order any.More

This is one of the few restaurants in town that's open in off season. I just had some questions about berry wines, and the owner Jari offered me a full tasting. He is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. His wines are interesting and tasty. After the tasting...I had his (grandma's recipe) reindeer soup; it was the best so far in Finland. They are surely busier in high season, but definitely worth checking out this little gem.More

Dear Tigrris Thanks for the heart warming presentation. I wish you many interesting encounters on your journey around the World. At least you have enough courage to face the African wild animals or challenging mountain Kilimanjaro. BR. Praise for you Jari from Levi Winecellar

A brief and lively wine tasting session with a passionate host who was thoroughly entertaining and informative - one of several highlights on our trip to Levi. Delicious wine - can highly recommend

We just wanted to drop in to buy some berry wine, but in the end my parents, my sister and I ended up with a wonderful spontaneous berry wine tasting with the owner! In addition to the "classical" berries like blueberry or cranberry, he also...makes wine of cloud berries or crow berries. We ended up testing all of these berrywines, which he produces in dry, medium dry and sweet. The wines are proper delicious and actually taste like the berry in question, not just like sweet juice (as too often the case with berry wine). They also produce an excellent cloud berry liquor (again, proper cloudberry taste, not just a sweet syrup) and a very good conjac type of berry liquor, which you can taste at the wine cellar. Absolutely recommended if you look for an excellent bottle of berry wine, either to drink directly, or to take home as a souvenir.More

We actually went to this wine bar for dinner because the owner had been so kind and helpful with my parents when they couldn't get the key to their apartment from the office next door after-hours...he really went above and beyond to help them, so...they wanted to repay him by patronizing his wine bar (despite them being tee-total!) What a serendipitous decision! As it's a wine bar, he only has two menu options - reindeer soup, which was self-serve, and reindeer stew (which actually was not what we expected as Brits, but rather mashed potato with reindeer meat on top served with lingonberry sauce and some pickles). Both were DELICIOUS!! We were so happy we went here. On top of that we had some local hot alcoholic drink (I'm not sure what it was) but it was also DELICIOUS! It was also perfectly welcoming for our 7yo child. I would highly recommend popping in for a warm soup and a nice drink in a cozy atmosphere, and the chance to meet a genuinely lovely man. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality!More

The owner is really friendly and open. His english is very limited what makes everything a bit complicater... They have only local berry wines which you can all try. Just keep in mind, they really don't taste like wine - more like a siroop. So...it was not a winecellar to us, but an interesting tasting.More

It you are looking to try some local wines, then don't be scared to go down the stairs to the Levi Winecellar and meet Jari Rolig. He will give you a warm welcome and a variety of local wines to taste as well as some...information on the berries that are used to make the wines. And we felt no pressure to buy so relax and enjoy the experience!! PS We did leave with three nice wines to take home because we found them to be good value and unique in taste.More

This is situated on the corner opposite Zero Point. You go down the steps and at the bottom you turn left into the shop or right into an intimate room with four large tables and chairs. The lady serving is wonderful. So friendly and knowledgeable....She advised me on the wine production and I had several different glasses over a few days. It is very central to the resort and has wifi and reading material. If you want to know anything about Levi then ask Pikka although that may not be the correct spelling of her name. I enjoyed the cloudberry wine and the more port like Blackcurrant. During busier months food is available. I highly recommend that you visit and support this local business.More

We had a brief tasting of the locally made wines. The wines were made from local berries. We bought a medium dry bottle of skyberry wine, which was nice. We spoke of being from the other side of the world, and the low season in...which we came. We were gifted some chocolate as well. Aside from the wine and the welcome, may favourite part was the blaring music at the entrance - Black Sabbath's Nativity In Black.More

If you've come to Levi for skiing or an Aurora tour etc then I would recommend paying a visit during your stay to this little place. It's a bit tricky to find but well worth it. Facing the main Levi Centre with your back to...the ski lifts you will see a red and white chalet type building on the right. It will have a sign on the front. There are steps leading down to the restaurant and wine cellar. They do a typical löhikeitto (salmon soup) buffet with drinks etc. They also do a superb poronkärystys (sauteed reindeer with mash and all the berry trimmmings etc). It is the best home cooked poronkärystys I've had! I would also recommend trying some of the homebrewed berry wines. They taste very similar to ordinary wine. You can also try a special liquor which is only available here and is not available to take away as bulk brewing would be detrimental from the amazing taste. It reminded me of benedictine but with out the sweetness. It gives your nose a good kick before you drink it. You wont find it anywhere else. You can buy the berry wines to take away and even a take away version of the poronkärsytys if you want to have it in the comfort of your log cabin with an open fire. The owner is very hospitable and loves his trade very much. It would be a travesty to come to Levi and not try this fantastic little place!More
