If you want to rest in a quiet cafe travelling between cities, this is the place for you. The facilities are basic and the food is adequate with really nice good old Kiwi favourites, like bacon and egg pie and white bread sandwiches. The coffee was delicious and the staff friendly. So I would recommend stopping here for a quick... More

Brilliant. Such nice ladies with a wonderful array of choices in the both the cafe and the bar. I was particularly impressed with the gluten free choices in the cafe and the enjoyable conversation. Thanks Ladies.

Great homemade food and really friendly staff. Pet friendly which is great on a long trip. Kids love running round patting donkeys.

Stopped for a coffee and toilet break on a long journey south bound. Great coffee and friendly service on this chilly morning, the staff plonked us under the heater to enjoy our brief visit in comfort. Cant miss this place southbound on SH1 large 'CAFE' sign 2km north made from white car tyres. Will stop for food next time. Its... More

We always enjoy stopping off here for a toilet break and a bite to eat on our journeys between Auckland and either Hastings or Palmerston North. The service is excellent and always friendly. The atmosphere is 'country' and is quite relaxing. If you sit inside, the lighting is not too good, but it is comfortable. On a hot day. like... More

Drove by this on the way up to Rotorua and wanted to see exactly what an 'Equestrian Cafe' looked like! You don't get to sit on a horse with your coffee however the service and food were fantastic. Very friendly and food, home made and very tempting. Don't go if you are watching your weight! The animals outside made it... More

After our arduous early morning drive from Napier in the rain and through the Taupo bypass for the first time this cafe proved an absolute salvation. The staff were welcoming and chatty as we took refuge from the wet and tucked into excellent toasted sandwiches (tomato, cheese and bacon from a wide choice of flavours). I appreciated my free refill... More

Great place to stop, wish i had found it sooner! Awesome tasty food, wicked coffee and first class service. Used to stop at a place further north but after the discovery of this little gem it pales in comparison in all aspects! Highly recommend it!
