Just amazing! We had a brilliant Christmas night out, the food amazing (as always) such attention to flavour and ingredients- highly recommended 😁. The staff are all kind, friendly and fun 😀. Best restaurant in the Spey Valley - thanks Team Anderson xx

We heard that this was a good, popular restaurant and decided to try it out on one of our regular trips to Aviemore. We booked our table at least a week in advance and gave details of us both being vegetarian and one of us...having severe allergies, which we listed. We were reassured that this would not be a problem. We arrived for our meal on a Friday night. The floor staff were polite and friendly. There was a nice atmosphere and we were shown to our table and given a newly updated menu with lots of choices for meat eaters. Unfortunately, the only choice available for us was pasta with a tomato sauce. This was vastly overpriced for such basic food that costs little to make. Furthermore, it was unclear as to whether or not it was free from the allergens highlighted to them. When we asked for an alternative, the waiter said that it would be difficult because they had “limited” ingredients. This was surprising as they had a variety of foods on the menu that would have been suitable, such as goats cheese. After some liaising, we were offered a Spanish omelette with vegetables mixed through it or a mixed salad with boiled eggs chopped and mixed through it! This is not a two bit cafe but gives the impression of a classy restaurant. Nevertheless, this restaurant is clearly geared up for meat eaters, who, from the reviews, enjoy the food served here. Despite this, and we have come across other restaurants that favour meat eaters just as much, this is the only restaurant in its class that has not attempted to serve us a more imaginative meal than a choice from the 1970’s “quick suppers for vegetarians” guide book. What is really sad about this experience is that it is completely out of tune with today’s issues of climate change and global warming. There is constant press, media and magazine coverage of the need for us all to change our eating habits, to cut down on our meat consumption and to embrace a more vegetarian or, even a vegan style of diet. This does not mean completely ruling meat out of our diet but to limit it with meat free and dairy free days. Clearly, this restaurant has not even begun to consider this concept or the fact that there is a growing number of vegetarians and vegans in Scotland. There are a considerable number of visitors to the area who enjoy sport, outdoor activities and nature. There tends to be a higher number of vegetarians and vegans within this group, yet this restaurant appears not to have awakened to this fact. In summary, Traditional meat eaters will probably be happy with the choices on the menu here but if you are vegetarian or vegan, don’t waste your time, go somewhere else. There are nice restaurants that cater well for Vegetarians & vegans, close by.More

Hi Mel, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I completely agree with everything you have said. I have always bent over backwards to offer fantastic vegetarian/vegan food, in fact, I too eat a mostly plant based diet. I am no longer...More

We visit Aviemore 2/3 times a year and always try and go to Anderson’s for a meal. As usual food was excellent and staff were good and we were not disappointed. We had the mussels (plentiful) and roast beefs which could not be faulted. Can’t...wait to return again soonMore

Gorgeous restaurant, so cosy and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious (I had the steak) and the mean was so filling I didn't even have space for a pudding which might be the first time in my life! I'm definitely going back at some point...though to have a dessert. The staff were lovely. Really friendly, helpful and chatty so we were able to have a laugh with them. Definitely would recommend it to anyone going to be in or around the areaMore

We visited as a family during October half-term and enjoyed the experience from start to finish. There was enough on the menu to tempt our various tastes and the ribeye steak as a main was tremendous. Big chunky chips, wonderfully cooked steak and a cracking...sauce to go with it. Oh, and the Islay Malt Whisky ice cream was something quite special. A great evening in comfortable surroundings with fantastic service. Thoroughly recommend.More

Visited for a special Birthday meal. Wanted an evening where we could indulge and for it to feel like a real treat. Disappointed that there were no specials available. Starters were delicious, plenty mussels for a starter and very tasty. Main meal was lacking. Chicken...escalope and skinny fries with coleslaw instead of salad as a delivery had not come in. It was dry, skinny fries were from frozen. All a bit bog standard and something you could make at home. It was boring. Not much of a treat. No water or wipes to use after eating a shellfish main either. Dessert was good, but a few things not available so this limited choice. All in all, a bit hit and a miss. Front of house staff very friendly but clearly extremely busy so not able to give the full experience you’d expect. It was an expensive experience and this would have been more than ok as it was a special Birthday treat, but overall and sadly, I don’t think I’ll be quick to return for the next special occasion.More

Every time we are in the area we make a beeline for Anderson’s as the meal is always top quality …. until our latest visit. We found the menu choice disappointing and lacking inspiration. You could find the same in any of the hotels in...Aviemore , not what you expect from Anderson’s. Unfortunately the food was just as bland as the menu. The taste and quality was missing and to be honest not worth going out your way for. It has lost its mojo and the menu needs a rethink.More

Sadly, I was disappointed in the quality and presentation of the food at a recent visit. A measure of a good restaurant for me is when you eat something that you couldn't do yourself at home - and this certainly didn't come up to scratch....I could have done much better myself (and saved a lot of money too) The front of house staff were friendly and did a good job of looking after dinner guests but the food really needs to step up to a much better standard.More
