About
WelcomeWhether you've something to celebrate, are at the end of a hard day's walking in the hills, or simply fancy a break from cooking at home, it is our wish at Anderson's that you all feel welcome. Forget pretence, the atmosphere here is relaxed and informal, so sit back, switch off, and savour the pleasure of great food and drink. Local Produce At Anderson's we are committed to using local Scottish produce when it is in season, so needless to say, our menu changes each month, along with our daily specials. Each dish is lovingly prepared and bought together in such a way as to bring out the very best of truly great, fresh ingredients. Although our menu is creative, our aim is simple, to present you with food that we are confident you will enjoy, and that tastes fantastic.Family Friendly The whole family is welcome at Anderson's, and it is important to us that everyone can tuck into something they will enjoy. So for children we can either offer half portions of anything on the menu, or for specific likes or dislikes, please feel comfortable to say, and the chef will be happy to come up with something to suit- within reason! Similarly please make us aware of any special dietary requirements you may have.“It’s great to see a restaurant like Andersons opening up in Boat of Garten. Owners Steve and Claire have put a huge amount of thought and effort into their set up, and their intended philosophy of utilizing the best of Scottish produce should be a real boost to the local restaurant scene. I wish them every success for the future.” Nick Nairn

10/10 is all I can say. We called at very short notice but not a problem for the staff. We had a great table. The staff were fantastic and as previously mentioned we were not rushed at all. The food was excellent!,,

Booked a week ago for a 6-30 meal for two. We were running late by 15mins, got to the restaurant , every table full apart from ours. We were welcomed, and not rushed. The staff were great, the service superb, and the food was magnificent. We’ve been in Aviemore all week, and this was the best food we had all week. Well done Anderson’s. Thank you 🙏🏻

Great quality pizza, nice wine and friendly service. Can’t wait to visit again and try some of the other dishes on offer. A great local restaurant in a lovely part of the country.

We happened upon Andersons’ Pie &Pizza night (Wednesday) where you can choose one of those plus a glass of wine or a beer for £18. We had the antipasto pizza and fish pie, sharing half and half. Both delicious. So much so, we went on to order pudding! Caramel apple crumble cake was a dream! Would definitely return to sample more of the menu.

Great looking food at a reasonable price. The menu looked really good although we had pizza. The pizza was excellent and service was similar. It’s essential to book. We only wish we had found the establishment before the last night of our holiday.

What a wonderful restaurant in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park! Full of charm and atmosphere and excellent service from kind and knowledgeable staff. Menu is packed with goodies mostly locally sourced and is a match for any chic urban eatery. Beautifully cooked and presented. Superb wine cellar too I noted. Obviously the best restaurant for miles around. All good.

Anderson's was recommended to us and we were glad we had booked. We had olives to start and they were warmed up, which was new to us, and they were delicious. I had the pie and my husband the belly of pork - both were delicious. As we had walked over 10 miles that day, we thought we could justify dessert - ice cream and sticky toffee pudding - which was again delicious. The food was excellent, the service efficient. Recommended overall.

Our visit to Anderson’s was very dissatisfying. Only one red wine available and limited food menu. Steak over cooked and extremely overpriced. Staff in a hurry during our visit and no care or attention given.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our restaurant. I would like to address some of the issues you seem to have brought to my attention. First of all, "only one red wine available" My waiting staff explained to your table once you were seated that our wine order had been delayed. This was due to a backlog of parcels at the courier company from being closed over Easter. This was not ideal, we were very embarrassed about this, but it was circumstances beyond our control, our wine order turned up the next morning! All other tables who dined with us on the same night were very understanding. "Steak overcooked and overpriced" Unfortunately, dry aged, local beef comes at a price. We would rather serve top quality, locally sourced Ribeye which supports our local farmers. Imported, sub standard, low priced beef doesn't work for us. I should really charge more for it, but i want to remain competitively priced compared to other local establishments. Overcooked?? I would never charge customer for food they were unsatisfied with, I would have cooked you another steak if we had been notified, you never mentioned your steak was not just the way you like it, in fact you were check on 5 minutes into your main course and you told my staff everything was fine? I do accept however you spoke to my front of house manager on your way out the door, after paying, to say you were disappointed about the wine situation and also that we had run out of venison special (it was a special and I had 16 portions which i thought would be enough for the night, it sold out in the first couple hours of service) I then replace the venison with an OTM Local Sirloin Steak with exactly the same accompaniments as the venison. Staff are in a hurry as we were very busy over the Easter period, we are short staffed as is the rest of the hospitality industry. We are trying our very best but also realise we cant please everyone, although we do try:) Steve Andersons, Chef/Owner

Absolutely fabulous place, lovely relaxed atmosphere. We had pizzas which were excellent with plenty of toppings. The rest of the menu looked really good and home made. Definitely be going back.

Meandering through the delightful Boat of Garten, we stumbled upon Andersons, which we knew from its' pizza element, previously housed in Grantown. Open on a Sunday afternoon, only for Mothers Day, we booked a table, set off for a walk and 2 hours later, received an enthusiastic welcome, something many other Cafe/Restaurants could learn from. What a splendid menu. Ticks so many boxes and that's without the accompanying exhaustive, inventive array of homemade pizzas. We shared a tartiflette. Oh man, flavoursome, unctuous and downright delicious. Triple yum. We could then have plumped for the spectacularly plated Sunday roasts that were leaving the kitchen, but instead went for pizza, as we'd never had the opportunity to devour the sourdough, neapolitan base 12" beauties that we'd only seen in pictures before. Oh my...soooo good. Killer thin perfectly cooked base, with a variety of tasty toppings (we had The Black Pig and The White Beastie) that were just slowly savoured and nary a crumb left. In short, a triumph. I declare Boat residents to be some of the most fortunate foodies for miles in any direction. Andersons is a wee gem of a place. If you're anywhere in the vicinity, offer them your full support...you will not be sorry...

Fantastic food, beautifully cooked. Great atmosphere, staff, and hospitality. So good that we booked to go back. Great choices on the menu too and lots of options for my dairy allergy. Totally recommend this restaurant.

This was our first visit since 2021 when we had an awful experience. Thankfully Anderson’s is back on track and we ( a group of 7 on last night of our Scottish holiday) all enjoyed our meal. My fish pie and mash on the side was delicious and the rest had a variety of pizzas. A great way to finish a wonderful holiday and look forward to coming back soon.

Fantastic meal last night. I dined with five friends and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. One friend commented that her risotto was the best she had ever had and she has travelled widely all over the world. Thank you Anderson’s. Steve’s cooking is really wonderful and Sean is brilliant front of house. So happy to see Anderson’s back to how it used to be pre-Covid. We will be back

We love Andersons and always make an effort to visit when staying nearby. You should too: it's worth travelling from Aviemore, Glenmore or further afield to this really good restaraunt. Last night we ate sourdough pizza with delicious toppings, but were tempted by so many other things on the menu: the fish pie, venison with mash, tthe spicy squash and chick pea stew...We know from past experience that they would all have been seriously good, prepared by chefs who really know and care about good food. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the decor fab: red walls, great artwork and a giant fork and spoon on the wall which I had to photograph for my daughter, who believes Andersons is ready to serve giants too. Do visit: this is the best restaurant we know of in this area!
