Myself and the girls had a weekend away in Malton and found what we thought looked a lovely little bar. How wrong could we have been ! Upon arrival, from first impressions, it looked a lovely little place, inside is beautifully decorated and the outside...is very pretty too, although very loud with lots of younger clientele. The cocktails were a little on the expensive side at £12.50each but as a treat why not splash out a little. There wasn't a mask insight or any social distancing, so if you are vulnerable then just be aware of this. Unfortunately, we never got to try the cocktails,,,,, We waited for about 15 minutes to be served, so my friend asked a lady if we could order. The lady was extremely abrupt and rude so we asked to speak to the manager. She told us she was the manager, and if we didn't like the service we should go elsewhere. We took her advice and left! Luckily we found a few other bars which were extremely attentive and accommodating.More

This is the second time as a returning customer, and I hate to say but this time was a huge change from the first time visiting, the first time we came as a walk in passing by the building and the menu really catching our...eye. The first time arriving and being quickly attended to by a lovely young waitress who directed us to the beer garden and promptly took the groups drinks order and handed us some food menus as we were undecided weather to have some lunch to eat. The menu seemed very enticing and something a little different than what we expected. I had the vegan salad and shared the mushroom bruschetta with my friend, the salad was simple yet also very tasty with the citrus and chili a new pairing to me but it worked very well and I would have ordered it again. The bruschetta was served cold which at first slight put us off but once we tasted it we didn't have any complaints, the flavours very delicate and nothing to heavy to enjoy in the nice warm weather. However, upon returning the second time we received the same service from the waiting on staff which we had no complaints about , but when they handed us the menu we were disappointed at the change that had been made to the menu, the choices very limited compared to before and also the choices weren't as different it just felt like it was very limited. Which unfortunately made us eventually decide not to eat our lunch and just stay for drinks. I normally don't like to leave a bad review on places but I thought as they didn't really ask for feedback on our experience during the second visit It was needed to leave a true review on my experience with 46 in malton. It's a shame as the first experience had that have continued I'd have been a regular customerMore

The atmosphere was to say very cold almost like something had just gone on not in a good way. The staff were very on edge all the time not a pleasant experience at all. Food not good at all, I was told to go to...bar 46 as the food and atmosphere was fantastic and we would enjoy the experience but don’t can only think a change of staff must of happened as this visit was not pleasant at all. Would not recommend it at all.More

We’ve been in a few times now. Love the outside area, it’s great to soak up the sun and chat over a pint or two. Can get a bit loud with groups of people out on the lash, dressed up for the town. First time...we went to eat the kitchen was out of action due to a fire (even though we’d been told before we sat down and ordered drinks that the food was being served, so a bit disappointing) last time we went in we managed to eat at lunchtime. Food was ok…. Not brilliant. Salad was swimming in dressing, steak sandwich was a bit gristly and it all just missed the mark a little bit…. Service varies from great (friendly, quick and accurate) to poor (wrong orders, forgotten drinks, distracted) definitely be back to try the food again, as it’s got such opportunity for matching the food to the surroundings.More

What a lovely place, fantastic atmosphere and lovely food. Staff polite and nothing too much trouble. With times as they are, well worth a visit to No 46, Malton was just what the doctor ordered.

it was quiet on the day of our visit for lunch (maybe 14 covers). The dog got a bed, water and treats and a fuss. Unfortunately humans were not so lucky. Positives first: nice wine and cold beer, striking surroundings and lovely place settings. Steak...and sour bread was good. The welcome was warm. Less positive: service was shambolic. A long wait for our food (and for other customers too). I asked for no mayo but this was served anyway. Ok, as it is just a dislike of mine but would be a problem if an allergy. Nobody asked if our food was ok so there was no opportunity to give feedback. Because of the long wait, we asked for more drinks to have with our meal, but these did not arrive and we needed to prompt. I rarely leave negative reviews but I feel like this is a place with such potential but currently seems style over substance.More

Found this gem of a place whilst walking around Malton. Decided to have a late brunch / early tea & we were not disappointed. The young waiter was attentive & friendly. Food was prepped by a new young chef, the sweet potato fries were yummy!...Congratulations to the young team!More

This young team are producing an excellent food and service experience in this cafe / bistro. We visited late afternoon and sat outside under the awning. Plenty of free parking available right outside. Cant thank Alf the waiter and the chef enough.
