This Pub was recommended to us by the owner of a local whiskey shop and we were very glad we went there. We booked in the afternoon, for the evening it was a Friday and they were busy early on so we booked for 8.15. It wasnt...too busy when we arrived and we were made to feel very welcome..We had a lovely meal which was served very efficiently. We shared padron peppers for starter and then both had Guinea fowl with crushed potatoes samphire and brocolli Lovely nightMore

Chose this as one of our group is vegan, another is vegetarian and pub choices for them are a bit limited locally. Choice of mains for both of them, which was nice, but no vegan desserts on offer. Service was excellent, very friendly staff. Expected...food to be better, as it's included in the Michelin guide. Two people had steaks and were asked how they liked them - both of them were overdone compared to their choices. I had game (pheasant?) and it was overcooked so tough. Chips were delicious (both skinny and french fries) and the vegan choice was apparently very tasty.More

We booked a table for a Saturday evening, we arrived early and it was not a problem. We were given the menu by the very friendly owner, she was really interested in asking us where we came from and spent time listening to us. Now...onto the food what can we say it's a pity we live so far away otherwise we would eat here once a week. We both had the duck croquettes starter which we did not want to end, followed by fish pie for hubby which was pipping hot right through till the last spoonful, and I had guinea fowl also very very good. Lots of other things on the menu reasonably priced, nice portions well worth a visit. They are open Thursday to Sunday for lunch and dinner Thursday to Saturday, You must book they turned away a few people while we were there without a booking. Plenty parking in market square, and what a beautiful village to walk through, lots of different shops to see.More

We had an evening meal here on a Sunday. The pub looks more suited to a market place drinking venue rather than meals. The food was fine, but the surroundings definitely aren't fine dining.

Called in with my wife around 3pm & enquired about a table for 2. Chap behind the bar said it was a half hour wait for food but we could book a table and return. On our return we were seated at a better table...& after being served drinks our order was taken. My wife had the monkfish and salmon pie which she says was perfect and I had the double steak burger that was cooked perfectly. Neither had room for a dessert but what was on the menu appealed to us. Extremely efficient and friendly staff in a clean and comfortable pub, will be staying over on our next visit.More

The three of us came for a mini family reunion on a warm Sunday. One of our party uses a motorised wheelchair and they kindly booked us an accessible table. Unfortunately he couldn't get his rather heavy wheelchair over the shallow step to the restaurant...(shouldn't be a problem for most wheelchairs). However our host couldn't have been more accommodating, setting up the table outside for us to use. The food and service was lovely, we had Sunday Dinners which were warm, hearty and tasty, great value too! Thank you very much we will definitely be back.More

We enjoyed a great meal and would highly recommend a visit. Very friendly and efficient staff, quick service, even though they were busy, and biscuits and water for our dog. I would advise booking.

We visited Malton last weekend from Friday through to Monday on the Friday night we popped in for a drink instantly welcomed by the lovely staff. The New Malton is a busy pub/Restaurant but has a very informal, relaxed vibe (due mainly to the fabulous...service from the staff team there) we had already pre booked a table for a meal there on the Saturday night, I would strongly recommend booking in advance as they are extremely popular. The food on the Saturday night was excellent, I had the Salmon and smoked salmon fish cakes, Devine! Hubby had the Monkfish and Salmon pie which he said was delicious, accompanied by a wonderful Souvingion Blanc from New Zealand. For pudding we shared a selection of cheese and crackers and took a small digestive a Whiskey and a Port, very good range of Whiskey available. The New Malton has been entered in to the Michelin Good Eating Guide for a good few years including most recently 2021. You could be forgiven for thinking that price wise then it may be more at the high end of things, but not at all, this is fabulous, locally sourced, wonderful produce at a reasonable price and fabulous service from friendly and attentive staff. Thank you New Malton for a lovely evening, we can't wait to return!.More

Be aware when driving in the town there is a level crossing for trains. Your sat navigations will probably tell you to turn right. This isn't allowed. Go over the level crossing watching our for pedestrians who walk when they think safe as there are...no traffic lights or zebra crossings. Good bustling town with good choice of shops.More

I've been in multiple times over the past few years and the quality of food has always been very high. I particularly enjoy the puddings there and give plenty of custard I'd you want! Will definitely return

We booked this as it was identified as one of the best eateries in Malton, allegedly the food capital of Yorkshire. The food was mediocre, overcooked chips (nearly black), items on the menu unavailable with no alternative and nothing special. Don’t waste your money.

There was 6 of us, 2 had fish and chips, the fish was so over fried a better way to describe it was burnt and dried up and not very nice at all. As for the cheese board, well for 9 quid it was a...joke, the whole board could have been made up for under £1.50 On a better note the sticky toffee pudding as very niceMore
