We managed to book here when staying at near by hotel and got in around 830 on a Friday night, it was still fairly busy at that time but service wasn't slow. There was a good selection of various ales on that wasn't too pricey...either. The food was delicious and didn't take too long to arrive, my main portion felt small but my partners was fairly sized so think it was probably just down to my choice and the fact I was really hungry! The staff were lovely, they made us feel welcome and was helpful in recommending places to visit in the town.More

Had a fabulous evening meal with friends, from the moment you walk in we got a lovely welcome, great service, fabulous food and just a great all round customer experience. We had taken some of our team as a thankyou for all their hard work,...what a lovely way to reward them!More

Disappointing lunch given the Michelin eating out in pubs listing. The food was average except for the soggy greasy chips and the service was poor. All the dirty plates and glasses from other tables were piled onto the table next to us rather than cleared...to the kitchen.More

We were stopping over in Malton for just one night and went on "tinternet" to look for a place to eat. We saw what we thought was a little pub with an interesting menu ..... What we got was Michelin Star - all the way...!!!! We opted to skip a starter in favour of a pud - right and wrong choice - right because my rice pud was superb and the plum crumble wonderful [yes I pinched a taste!!] - wrong , because we should have starved ourselves all day and had all three. Our main courses were the "pork" and the fishcakes - my belly pork has been prepared and cooked with such care and the black pudding croquette was "to die for". I was doubtful when Anne ordered fish cakes as hers are so good and she usually complaints that "they have skimped on the fish" - not so here - Anne said they were the best she has ever tasted [including her own} WHAT A FIND!!!!!More

Amazing. Incredibly welcoming and when they say they are dog friendly, they aren’t joking! Lovely place with great food to boot. Will be back.

From the way our unsuccesful call to book the previous week was handled (fully booked) to the moment we left to 3 genuine goodbyes from the serving team and everything in between our experience was exceptional. Beer (Blonde) wine, service (attentive and personal) menu (managed...to be both comprehensive yet reassuringly focussed and tempting) decor, facilities, atmosphere all faultless. Starters (both the Liver and the Scallops were melt in the mouth) .Mains :Lamb fell off the bone and the steak was cooked to perfection with possibly the best peppercorn sauce ever. Veg selection perfectly cooked and fresh and all rounded off with a delicate shared plum crumble and light custard. We are new to Malton and The New Malton but it already feels like an old favourite. Looking forward to returning soon. Congrats to Chefs, Serving Team and Owners . Spot On.More

We were amazed by the service, the staff were so friendly & welcoming. The Lamb Henry & Risotto delicious as was the sirloin steak & the Roast Plumb crumble was scrumptious. We would highly recommend & would go back again.

Wow! Thanks trip advisor good previous reviews so decide to book for an evening meal after a wander round Malton. Gorgeous food, wonderful staff and they really do love dogs, even ones who knock the water bowl all over the floor. Beef hash starter, Yum!...Partner had scallops with chicken butter that he raved about. The pork fillet and belly main was outstanding, everything was spot on, perfect seasoning and spices. everything was perfect, so good I wrote this before ordering dessert. There’s a reason this is one of the top places to eat in Malton. Firstly the service is amazing, the staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming and eager to make your visit great. Secondly the food is brilliant, and great value. We had the burgers which...were one of the best we’d tasted in a very long while. None of us left a drop on our plates which is always a good sign. Next time we’re in Malton we’ll be sure to visit again.More

Best meal we've had for years. I had the slow cooked pork belly which was amazing. Local Beers were superb and I have to say for the quality this lunch was very reasonably priced at £15. We will be back.
