We have been a number of times this year and every time the service has been polite, attentive and thorough. The food is excellent, with a good choice of quality beer, wine and spirits. Today was our first Sunday lunch and it was excellent! Superbly...tasty beef cooked to perfection with care obvious in every vegetable. Dessert and coffee were delicious. We’ve eaten in some serious restaurants over the years and these guys are aiming high. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!More

Our second visit, this time prebook table for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. Wasn’t for us at all, service was standard, clean interior of the establishment but sadly didn’t enjoy the food at all. Neither of us are able to recall what we sampled...to begin - not memorable and we both opted for roast beef traditional Sunday dinner. It looked impressive on arrival, piled high which got me was off putting and I immediately felt over faced by the volume of food on the plate. Personally I like to have veg served separately in a turine so that I can help myself and decide which veg id like to sample- however everything came plated for you. The enormous Yorkshire pudding taking centre stage with a lot of beef sat within - again we both said we’d rather not have the meat within the Yorkshire. Much of the meat was thickly sliced and quite tough to cut through and chew. I left mine. The Yorkshire pudding looked homemade although it was rock hard and thick - quite solid and unpleasant again I didn’t eat it, nor did my husband which is most unusual. I didn’t Carr much for the gravy either it had a strange flavour and couldn’t establish if it was herby or if it was the beef itself that had a strange taste. Prefer my beef very pink and thinly sliced. Fir this reason we won’t return it recommend - the food we did consume laid heavily much of the day. Shame because our first visit was much better.More

We called in on Sunday (its been a while) To be honest I was a little disappointed that there was only really the Sunday lunch option,or fish and chips, but had heard such good reports about it decided to give it a go.May I say I...am not keen on veg before I start(prefer just Yorkshires /roasties and the meat/gravy)So we ordered 2 Sunday lunches, and asked if my veg could be served separately-no problem. I have to say it was the best Sunday lunch I have ever had!It was served in a hot dish/bowl,rather than a plate. The beef was served inside the massive homemade Yorkshire pudding, hot crisp on the outside and just to my taste,The creamed pureed? mash was to die for,I even ate the carrots /swede.Everything was so very tasty,The chef certainly knows what he/she is doing. The service was exceptional. and will go again for definite! I would recommend to anybody who enjoys good food without hesitation!More

We stopped by for a Sunday roast and could not believe our eyes when it came! We had the roast beef and it was absolutely delicious! The serving staff were attentive and friendly. We got chatting to the owners who were so friendly, especially towards...my little boy letting him meet their dogs. We loved it so much we went back a second time for another lovely meal (chicken skewers for starter and chicken and sherry pie for main). Beautiful settings and beautiful food with a lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Would recommend to anybody!More

6 of us booked this for a meal on our first night in Rillington. The food was amazing, we all had different meals and every one of them was beautifully cooked and presented. The service was excellent with great attention to our every need. There...was a good choice of drinks which were well made. We will most definitely be returning to this pub again.More

We decided to book here based on the reviews and as it was a bank holiday Monday decided to book well in advance. I really wished we had not bothered. We were shown to our table and handed a paper menu titled Hog Roast. The...menu had 2 main courses on it. Scampi and Chips or a veg curry. At first I thought this was a specials menu and asked the waitress for the full menu, to be told, they had had a very busy weekend and this is all they could offer. At NO point prior to our arrival did the restaurant try to contact us to let us know of the limited menu and had it not been a bank holiday Monday and that I had just driven down from Scotland I would have walked straight back out. We decided to make the most of it and ordered. The mains arrived and they were acceptable. We were about to order dessert only to be told that the sticky toffee pudding was not available. As nothing else took anyones fancy we decided to order just coffee, to be told the coffee machine was broken!! How can anyone run a restaurant this bad and manage to get so many good reviews. This place is a joke, I cannot stress enough how much it should be avoided until there is new management in place. I have attached a copy of the menu to show that this was what they considered acceptable that day!More
