Traditional 'old school' pub. Good hearty food and drink. Beer lives up to its CAMRA status and wine is very reasonable. Need to book for weekends, but well worth it.

Warm, cosy and welcoming, Super pint of Guinness and a good selection of table wines. I try to go for lunch at least once a month and it never fails to be enjoyable and the food consistently excellent. Value for money in a setting that's becoming harder to find these days.

Having been in previously for a pint we returned for a lunch. I had the chicken in mustard sauce and my wife had a filled jacket potato. Both were well cooked, generous in portion and nicely present. The welcome and service were great and the beer was good as well. We will definitely return again....might try the Sunday lunch next... More

Classic pub, really tasty home cooked food. Cut above the usual chainy fare you get these days. Great beer too

If you ever wondered what pub use to be like enter this time warp and take a big step back in time! Good beer and the service was not overly done, very basic but worth a visit just to get away from themed pubs!

Popped in here just before Xmas for a lunchtime pint or two. Very nice 'old school pub' with open fire, no music, no sport on TV! Limited lunchtime menu (we didn't eat) but apparently the food is good especially the Sunday lunches. Publiclican was fair quiet but locals at the bar were very welcoming and chatty.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years now and the food has never once disappointed. A fairly small but varied menu, portions are spot on and value for money is unrivalled. All lovingly cooked by the landlady, this is the epitome of delicious pub grub. I can honestly recommend every dish, though the garlic chicken is a particular... More

Make sure you phone and book ahead. For the money you will not get a better steak. Locally sourced meat lovingly prepared and cooked to perfection. You could go in to London and pay in excess of £25 for a steak but why would you when you can come here and get it for under £16. Chunky chips with a... More

Whilst paling through with family we made a quick visit to Fox & Hounds. Nice homely atmosphere spoiled slightly by a grumpy publican! Not a place to visit if you have dirty boots or your children

Nothing like MUDDY BOOTS to upset the Landlord, the polite NO MUDDY BOOTS sign outside the pub is self explaining. Thank you for your input. More
