I cannot recommend this place enough, and it would be a shame to miss out on your journey through Tuscany. Reservation recommended. The food is amazing, whether you are in the mood for pasta or protein. If you can get a table outside, you have amazing views of the valleys of Tuscany while you eat. We were only in Tuscany... They takes good care of their guest despite the numbers of pax. They open up more when you return again the second night. Food is excellent too. Couldn't fault the wine. Price bit on high side, but its worth it.

We had a lovely lunch here out on the patio overlooking the valley. The food was very good -- traditional Tuscan fare but very well executed. A place to linger.

We travelled with a family for a week in Tuscany and La Portacwas clearly the best place of all. They have an amazing chef! Try the quail and barley risotto. And if the weather permits, sit outside for a spectacular view of Val d'Orcia!

We went here quite late in the evening so we couldn't stay on the terrace but from what i could see you get a wonderful panoramic view. Now for the food, I know they were ready to close the kitchen but still they turned out extraordinary dishes. All the dishes were amazing, especially the beef cheek.

I have written about La Porta before but I go there regularly and the quality of food and staff does not waiver. Moreno is a master chef, a kind and sociable man who is intensely into his food. He sources his food himself and the specials are able to reflect what is in season and at its best. The menu... More

We had lunch on the balcony once and dinner there two nights while in the area and had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed everything we tried, including perfectly cooked steak with side of sauteed veggies, excellent broiled cod fish with a fantastic side of spinach, pasta and the deserts we tried (a chocolate decadence cake in a custard sauce and... In the small village of Monticchiello, you will find this gem of a restaurant. The views from the terrace are amazing. The service was great and the owner Daria was very welcoming, giving us tips about different wines. We had black and white truffles 2 different ways. Also we shared several of the delicious desserts. Definitely a restaurant experience to... More

During a random hike from Montepulciano with a girlfriend many years ago, we stumbled across this amazing little restaurant situated right on the mediaeval walls of the picturesque village of Monticchiello, in Tuscany and we swore to the lovely owner, Daria Capelli, we would return one day. My friend beat me to it last year and claimed it was even... More

The tavern is located in proximity of the entrance door of Monticchiello, a nice medieval village near Pienza. With its few places (it is better to reserve), it proposes an elegant room, furnished with taste in typical tuscan style, it is comfortable and familiar. The courtesy and the professionality of the owner, Daria, young and passionate sommelier, are an optimal guide in the choice of the plates and the wines. During the beautiful season it is possible to eat in the terrace, enjoying a wonderful sight on Pienza, the Val d'Orcia and the Amiata.Accommodation in Monticchiello- The residence "Il Torrino" is a panoramic apartment obtained from the restauration of an ancient tower belonging to the boundaries of the medieval suburb Monticchiello. The structure, in proximity of the principal access to the village, has been completely restructured from the owner with taste and scrupulous care of the details. At guests' disposal a double room and a living-room with couch-bed and TV; panoramic view on Pienza and the Val d’Orcia. The prices for the weekly stay change according to the season and are comprehensive of heating, final cleaning, household linen. For briefer stays contact the owner.
