Our group of 9 had dinner here and found the owner was on hand to cater for our every needs. He also ran to the local bottle shop to get a red wine we were after. The amazing thing about this restaurant was that the...owner person working and managed to serve all our meals at the same time. Food servings were large and tasty.More

We were actually looking for a Flafel restaurant and it started raining. We walked by El Vagabundo and decided to give it a try. Excellent choice. Our meals were delicious. I had Jaegerschnitzel with spaetzel and my wife had vegetarian enchiladas. We were both very...pleased. If it weren´t 10 hours away from Cuenca, we would be going back regularly.More

We can highly recommend that very cozy restaurant. The food is excellent and the owner very friendly. Prices are fair. We had two very nice evenings there!

Tena needed a place like El Vagabundo to provide a different sort of food. Tena is full of parrillada and comida tipica, so it is good to have a place that is different. Vagabundo has a weird mix of enchiladas and german food, but overall...the food was very very good. This seems to be the night spot of foreigners - which can be either good or bad. It is also different from other options in tena because it is a mix of restaurant and bar - which again can be either good or bad. For me, I enjoyed vagabundo for the great food, good prices, and friendly staff.More

I'm super happy I found this little place in Tena. I spent nearly 2 months in Tena, so I got a little sick of eating rice and plantains. El Vagabundo has the best french fries in all of Ecuador. The baguette con pollo is so...freaking good. Jurgen is a wonderful owner. He tries to ensure that his guests have a nice dining experience. His sauces are homemade. This place is definitely worth checking out, especially if you are a gringo looking for a change of pace from Ecuadorian cuisine.More

Varied European menu with generous portions and reasonable prices. No European beers available, but otherwise 2 thumbs up.

The outdoor seating was great, and the fact that the restaurant didn't even open until 5 was quite delightful, because the owners were cheerful and not worn out by 8 PM when we showed up. I ordered the trucha (trout) with rice and vegetable sides....I was ecstatic to discover a restaurateur in Ecuador who not only knew what an eggplant was but cooked it to perfection. My mango juice was also excellent, and the perfect finish was the strong shot of liqueur included with the meal at the end. I loved the atmosphere and the unhurried pace of the cooks. Not a place to go if you're starving, as the wait might be a bit long, but I definitely felt it was worth it!More

Two couples dined here and had great food, reasonable prices. The Chef salad included ham wrapped around cheese laid out in a design on top on the lettuce. Portions except for the quesadilla were huge. My friend and I enjoyed the Goulash, the beef was...excellent and the tirasmisu decadent- made with lots of whipping cream. My friend and I returned for the second night and received even larger portions. Service was excellent the first night and a bit slower the second because there is only 1 waiter. The owner chef is German.More

Food was traditional style as well as deco, service was very good. In general a good meal, though priced compared to other options in Tena, but if you are living for while there you can try to diversify. To improve, the local was too hot.
