This isn't haute cuisine. It is plain, good, wholesome food prepared well and served by friendly staff. We had ham and eggs with chips. The ham was excellent quality and generously proportioned. The eggs were cooked to my specification and delicious. The chips were well above your average chip shop standard. The two desserts, bread and butter pudding and chocolate... More

Real ale is excellent. Food is good (first visit it was excellent but second visit it was only good). Had lasagne and steak and ale pie which were very tasty. Puddings were also very good and not too expensive.

On the way home from a long weekend break in Winchester, my husband and I decided to go to dinner at 'The Boars Head' in Hampton Lucy. The ‘Boars Head’, is situated in centre of the village. The pub was painted cream and grey on the outside. Inside was very light, airy and modern with pine tables and chairs, beech... More

A village pub delivering well cooked food. Service very good and at a standard I expect. We hadn't booked. but it was no trouble to accommodate a table for two. Seemed popular with the locals. Steak pie, chips and peas for me with my wife opting for chilli con carne, a little less spicy than she would have liked, but... More

Loved the ability to book a table online at less than 2 hours notice! Car park at the back of the pub. Staff very friendly and welcoming, sevice very prompt - our Sunday lunches arrived within 10 minutes of placing the order. Food was hot and delicious.

Visited on 17th April for Sunday lunch. Main course at £12 appalling:- beef (ordered medium) arrived bloody and rare. Pork overcooked, dry and inedible .Frozen, bland vegetables, plus a 50 minute wait! Management indifferent to our complaint - offered to replace the meal but no apology, This is a lovely old pub with lots of character and a good atmosphere... More

Popped in here during a walk on a beautiful day - greeted by very friendly staff, sat in a nice beer garden in the sun and served decent portions of food pretty quickly. Food was tasty and fresh, a fair price so for my first time I would come back again.

We have been here many times now. there is always a good selection of ales on tap. The food is good solid pub grub with a decent veggie menu. One sunday we stopped in for "roast dinner" they made us Nut roast and veggie gravy (not on the menu). Service is superb. Great beer garden out the back in the... More

Although this was a popular day and time I was impressed with the attention of the staff. They we're very accommodating and helpful , particularly with some of the very young members of our party of eleven. The food was excellent and I feels I must make a special mention about the soup. This is the third time I have... More

Hi Jaynechallinor Thank you so much for your very kind review. Thank you especially for the comment about the soup (I take it as reference to a previous review) Our Chef makes all soups fresh and is very proud that they are always tasty and wholesome, as are the roasties and vegetables as in a future review we are slated...
