good value for an"itison deal" good choice on the menu which is to be expected as they should want to encourage your return. Had a slightly longer than you might expect wait for starters but worth it in the end as we all enjoyed our selections.Mains were generally acceptable, although lamb was a bit too pink for my liking (blood... Really good evening, delicious and well presented food and good service - all you ask for! The only negative was the price of the wine, £6 for a glass, this is an out of the way bistro not a west end hotel. Other than that I'd definitely recommend a visit.

We had great food here, and thought our main dishes were excellent, with creative combinations that worked well, and lovely presentation. The service was friendly. I would say the atmosphere was slightly lacking, possibly not helped by the decor, nor the lack of heating.

Following a really lovely meal and visit when it was The Bistro we visited Friday evening a party of 9 - food, staff and ambiance were average at best. We will not be back.

We have been to this restaurant several times since it changed from the Muchalls Bistro to the Stack Restaurant and both times we had a similar experience, let me explain in more detail. The food we had on each occasion was really nice, but the service we received was severely lacking, it took what seemed like a lifetime for our... More

Hi Steve, Many thanks for taking the time for posting a review and I'm disapointed to hear that we fell short of your and my expectations. I noticed from your review that it was a considerable time ago that you dined with us,and rest assured that since then, we have improved our service, and also changed the background music. We hope... Food was pretty average and the service was pretty average too. Nothing outstanding about this restaurant unfortunately. The atmosphere was seriously lacking as it was very quiet when we were there. Music being played may help the ambience slightly. Not somewhere we would be in a hurry to go back to.

Unlike the old bistro, the 6 children in our group of 14 were made welcome with colouring pencils and colouring books while we were waiting for our food. The waiter was very attentive and pleasant. We were very surprised that there were not that many customers as expected on a Saturday afternoon. The food were lovely and generous in portions.... More

So came here again today with my wife, sister and niece. I have been a couple of times before and it is always excellent. This place reminds me of what the creel and the lairhillock used to be. Just the look and the taste of the food instantly makes you notice and realise that the chef/s have a passion for... More

We stumbled on The Stack on a rainy afternoon. We were the only customers. Andy came out of the kitchen and immediately made us feel welcome. He sat us by the fireplace and turned it up to dry us off. We had been a week in London and then 5 days touring Scotland - had some marvelous meals at renowned... More
