Went today for a family Christmas dinner. As other reviewers have already said the Christmas decorations are incredible, and is well worth traveling here for them alone. The festive menu was very good value for money. We went for 2pm and the place was very full but we'd already reserved a table so we had no problems regarding that. It... More

The Christmas decorations are to be applauded every child and adults jaw dropped when they came in whilst we was there. Excellent staff and customer service. We all had a wonderful time and I can vouch for 5 generations of us.

This pub has a reputation for its amazing decorations. If you are into Christmas or Halloween it's worth a visit, especially with the children. The staff are very helpful. The food is typically pub food so don't expect anything too fancy, but it's still good.

after shopping in Buxton and reading rave reviews on Facebook page, my husband and I treated ourselves to lunch here. Friendly quick service and delicious home cooked food. I chose the steak pie and chips and my husband had a burger. Both substantial meals. What we loved about this place is the old style pub feel. The Halloween decorations had... More

Visited the day after Halloween and they'd already started on the Christmas decs! Classic pub food with huge portions, so I'd defo recommend after a long walk or hard day's work. My partner had a banana meringue eton mess-type pudding which is the biggest dessert I'd ever seen... think the size of a large cake! Leaflets explaining the history of... More

Myself & my husband were visiting Derbyshire for the week and came across The Hanging Gate. Couldn't believe it on entering - the Halloween decorations were fabulous! We had a good meal & enjoyed watching children's reactions. We liked it so much that on return to our rented barn told rest of family about it. We booked a table for... More
