We had been recommended The Dickin Arms by friends so 8 of us travelled out for the evening and we were delighted to find that it was worth the drive on a dark and wet January night.
Out of the whole evening the only slight negative happened within the first minute of arriving, making our way through the bar to our table there were some couples having a drink stood at the bar and when the oldest member of our party asked a polite and repeated excuse me to pass she was ignored and eventually had to shimmy through a gap, when I repeated the process I was ignored and given a 'look' but this was a reflection on those individuals and not at all on the venue.
We were shown to our table by a young very polite waitress and drinks were offered along with the menus. It took us some time to choose from the menu and the specials board but our request for extra time was granted with no issue at all. Much indecisive too-ing and fro-ing later decisions had been made and we weren't disappointed!
One member of the party had food allergies which were accommodated well.
The award for best starter was given to the bucket of whitbait which was delicious, hot and crispy.
The staff were just the right amount of attentive and drinks offered regularly.
Main course was a triumph, the T-Bone Steak was absolutely huge and was perfect according to my husband, my sisters selection of tapas style dishes were just the right size, well presented and very tasty. There were a couple of us who whilst having no complaint at all about their food had confessed to some serious food envy so we'd planned another visit before we'd even finished this one! The winning dish of the evening went to my aunt's pork medallion stroganoff, it looked great, the portion was excellent and was declared yummy!
It's a rare occasion when most of our party decides on having 3 courses, especially after generous main course portions but no one could resist. The second waitress of the evening was very patient when our decision making veered off into a debate over icecream flavours and had a joke with us all when she came back to apologise that the pistachio was sold out.
The whole evening was an absolute delight, finished off by being pleasantly surprised by the bill when it arrived at the end of the night. Good service and excellent food all round means we will return.

Went for lunch earlier today, 25th January 2020, with 10 others. Came in to a very warm welcome from the staff, pointed out our table promptly.
Staters were lovely, I had the pork belly, plenty of it and delicous, followed by the sirloin, again cooked exactly how I ordered, medium and melted in my mouth.
Everything for everyone was served within a couple of minutes, great service from a place probably more used to 2 and 4 people groups, very impressed.
Salted caramel ice cream for dessert along with a licquer coffee, was again lovely.
Pricewise not the cheapest but certainly not expensive, great value for money.
Summing up, lovely surroundings, friendly staff, great food, good value, will definitely be going again and very soon, a good 5 thumbs up for The Dickens Arms.

Have eaten at The Dickin Arms, Loppington a fair few times and I have never had a bad meal or service.
This last visit was with a friend to take advantage of the EOTHO scheme. On arrival we were asked to use hand sanitiser and sign in for Track and Trace purposes. The restaurant was very busy, but tables suitably distanced re Covid. Staff wore face masks.
I ordered a mix of 2 starters and 2 sides instead of a main and I definitely over ordered as portions were large. The pie of the day was ordered by my friend. All the food was absolutely delicious, in fact I'd go so far as to say the best I've had there! Well worth a visit! Will be back - already booked in fact!

Pub is nice and the staff were friendly enough. Paid £30 for a fillet steak with pepper sauce and asked for medium rare. Steak came out without a steak knife and I couldn't even cut through it so asked for a steak knife, still struggled to cut through it. The plate was swimming in fat and blood so clearly it hadn't been left to rest properly. The waitress came to collect plates at the end and asked how the meal was to which I replied 'really bad, I struggled to cut through steak', she apologised and said she will let the chef know but then proceeded to give me my full bill.
When you pay £30 for a steak you expect a chef who has the ability to cook it properly!!

Many thanks for your review- I’m very sorry you didn’t enjoy your experience thoroughly in this instance.
Our steaks are locally sourced from a proper butcher who we have known collectively for many years and we receive a great deal of compliments about the steaks that we serve.
Unfortunately as you managed to eat the whole steak and nothing was returned to the kitchen we were unable to appraise it’s quality on the evening, however- our head chef has spoken to the butcher and acknowledges your complaint, it appears there WAS an issue (a very uncommon one!) in this instance and as such I would like to offer you a discount should you wish to join us again.
Our steaks are simply seasoned, chargrilled and rested before serving, and between us, the head chef and I have over 50 years of commercial kitchen experience, so our hope is that the issue wasn’t in the cooking!
I’m pleased you liked the pub and found our staff to be friendly- we certainly feel lucky to have the team that we do!
I hope you won’t be deterred from returning to us, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your visit or rebook.

Lovely evening out, never been to the Dickin Arms before, arrived about 6.30pm on Saturday evening & busy. Interior so warm & cosy, just beautiful. Had a really nice table, food arrived & all starters were delicious, we then had variety mains (T bone steak, seabass, fish & chips) were all delicious!! Service was attentive but not overbearing. Will definitely be returning, such a great experience & food to die for...

My husband and I visited for the first time for Sunday lunch and were really impressed with everything. It's a really cosy place with different rooms so something for everyone's taste. There is a log burner and sofas for drinks and a bar snack or a couple of different dining rooms for a more formal meal. It's got a lovely country feel and the staff were really welcoming and friendly. We both chose the roast and had the medium size of all 3 meats, it was fabulous. Great that there is a choice of small medium or large depending how hungry you are. It's a little bit of a trek from where we live but definitely worth it and we will be back for an evening meal and lunch at some point.

Having eaten at the Dickin Arms many times in the past and always found the food to be excellent the service efficient and the staff courteous and polite, My wife rang on Wednesday 19th May, to enquire about the current Covid procedures and to book a table for lunch for ourselves and two friends ( our first trip out for a meal for almost 12 months). She spoke to female who told her in a terse and rude manner to "ring back in half an hour". Needless to say she didn't "ring back in half an hour", and we now have no intention of ever visiting the Dickin Arms again. Unless this is the standard of customer service that this establishment deems acceptable, then I suggest they urgently review their staff training policy, because this is simply unacceptable

Hello there, and thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, however I am disappointed that you chose to leave us a 1-bubble review despite having not been to the pub in this instance.
I also find it exceptionally unfair that despite, in your words- “having visited the Dickin arms many times and always found the food to be excellent, the service efficient, and the staff courteous and polite” that you have not once chosen to leave us a positive review, or indeed review any venue on your account in 10 years.
Whilst I’m sure you didn’t expect to be asked to call back last night, let me assure you that the staff member in question will be mortified to have caused offence as I am confident this was not her intention.
It is worth noting that since drafting the review I have since spoken to the staff member concerned. She confirmed the above and told me that your wife said she had called at least three times during lunch but chose not to leave a message, ringing repeatedly instead.
In future I would recommend leaving a brief message with your contact details and we will get back to you as soon as we are able, as our answerphone suggests.
We are exceptionally busy since reopening and have seen overwhelming support from our patrons, but in the same breath are somewhat understaffed and our remaining staff are working long gruelling hours after up to 12 months of furlough, to serve our customers
I, along with many of our staff haven’t had a full day off since well before the 12th April when we reopened, and are somewhat feeling the step-up in demand,
I’m sure you can imagine that the past 13 months have been the worst imaginable for people in our trade, and your review feels like something of a “kick ‘em while their down” effort if I’m brutally honest.

I've been meaning to put this review up for a while now, so here it is. My wife and I came at the start of August during the 'eat out to help out'. The food and atmosphere were exceptional. All the staff were following the correct COVID procedures and were very friendly and attentive throughout the evening.
We had the T-Bone and Filet steak which were both cooked to perfection and bursting with natural flavour. The wine was lovely and complemented it very well. It is always nice to find somewhere new out of town and the Dicken Arms is well worth the trip. We're back again this weekend!

We visited The Dickin Arms twice on a recent visit to Shropshire, once for Sunday lunch and yesterday, also for lunch. The meals on both occasions were tasty, hot and made with delicious, high quality produce. Sunday we had two beef and one pork roast, yesterday we had gammon egg and chips, fish and chips and steak and blue cheese pie with chips. Ample portions on both occasions. Some of the menu options have smaller portions as an option which is a great idea for those with smaller appetites. The staff were helpful, friendly and efficient and adapted the meals slightly at our request. This place is really worth a visit if you are in the area. We booked ahead on both occasions, although it might not have been necessary for lunch on a Thursday, Sunday was pretty busy inside and there were also a number of tables occupied in the marquee. The marquee does occupy a fair proportion of what was formerly the car park. There are about half a dozen car parking spaces and we managed to secure one on both occasions. If ever we are back in the area this pub would be top of our lust for dining out. Thankyou all very much.

My friends and I visited on the 'eat out to help out' scheme, which made the main menu outstanding value. The food was beautifully cooked and presented by efficient and friendly staff.
After the scheme finished, we have been several times for the lunch specials menu, which represents excellent value. Can get busy, especially with dogs and owners, so pre book and enjoy.

There is something about this venue that is hard to define and very rare to find. The food is great, the staff lovely and friendly but the often missing ingredient is that atmospheric feeling of ease and nothing is too much trouble.
We are lucky to live locally and the way that this team has innovatively dealt with the last year has been admirable to watch.
My 91 year old Mother in law is a regular and on her one day out a week is made to feel like a celebrity when she arrives! How many venues make that effort !
Can't recommend it enough a visit is a real treat on many fronts! ❤

As this was my first time at the dickin arms i was unsure what to expect. However, upon my arrival i was welcomed into a warm and cosy restaurant by the friendly staff.
The meal was everything i could have hoped for, a traditional Sunday dinner with a classy twist, cooked to perfection. Would 100% recommend this and am looking forward to going back in the week for another great experience.
