Excellent food. I had the steak au poivre and it was cooked to perfection. Melts in your month. Very charming decor. I would love to go back there.

Lobster bisque with cognac and lovage : Very nice and hot right to last spoonful. However, appetizers and main course : Served slightly warm and after few minutes, all food was cold.Main course: Lobster tail, mussel and chorizo paella with zucchini, peppers and asparagus. We did not enjoy eating cold paella, also note that lobster was not very tender and very small... More

We were there for a nice elegant dinner las night. First, my chair was dirty. Service was reactive instead of proactive. We had to ask for salt, pepper, bread, menu etc. Way too much fish ir sea food on Table d'hôte (75%). I had the chicken supreme that was ordinary. The chocolate tasted like chocolate pudding. Partner had the duck... More

We love this restaurant and often bring out of town friends here. Unfortunately, this time around our experience was good, but not exceptional. It is still a pleasant place with pleasant staff, but the food, especially the chicken dish, missed the mark. The sauce was uninspiring an d the chicken has no particular flavour. We seem to do better here... More

Haven't been back to this place in years since I now live in Vancouver. The food is as good today as I remembered. Very reliable quality and service. Nice to see a restaurant that still offers classical French fare; their mushroom dishes are excellent! Only disappointment was being there on a slow night during the early part of the week.... More

This a place we have ben going to for years now for family celebrations or as a couple. It is one of the best value for money you can get around Ottawa/Gatineau. Quality has stayed the same although the menu has changed with the new Chef-owner. We were there for the Sugar Bush and for 34$ we had so much... More

We ate at 6PM which is early for us. We were seated promptly and received great service until the end of the evening. We understand that the bill is not brought until asked for, but our waiter was everywhere - serving upstairs and downstairs - and we (and the table beside us) had to go to the cash to pay... More

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious and romantic dinner to celebrate a milestone anniversary. The restaurant was full in our section mid week. Award-winning l'Arjolle Chardonnay from southern France paired nicely with a lovely salmon plate for me and scallops for my husband. This followed a rutabaga soup and mixed green salad with feta, dates and an orange marrocan... More

It was a Sunday in mid-March and we were headed for our first visit to L'Oree Du Bois. We were pleased to discover that on offer that day was a Canadian spring treat - Sugar Bush Food, in which everything has a bit of maple syrup taste. This is working men's food, not fancy - but made from old time... More
