Often visit this historic eatery! Friendly chef and good service! Excellent hand crafted beer and nice carafes of wine on offer! Some lovely old photos of Port Alfred in days gone by! Always have a good meal! Value for money!

A promising evening, an historic venue and friendly service was sadly spoiled by a lamb shank main dish which was overcooked to the point of being burnt with charred pieces which the chef attempted to hide by covering it with a very ordinary gravy. The proprietor admitted his lamb shank should have been "browned, succulent and falling off the bone".... More

This is my second visit and it still remains an excellent place to eat. Your meals are prepare exactly the way you requested. Your meat is cooked to exactly to your specification. (That's very rare for SA restaurant standards from our experience) The friendliness and politeness of the staff is exceptional. The selection and quality of the beers brewed by... More

The staff were friendly, the ale was good and the fish of the day (cob/kabeljou) grilled to perfection! It's a good place to stop and have lunch.

Our hosts that we stayed with in Port Alfred recommended the pub for dinner. So we took up the suggestion and headed over on a Saturday night. It was fairly busy, but were attended to very welcomingly. The host lead us to a table upstairs as I wanted to be warm but once getting upstairs we realised it was just... More

On our way to the Fish River Sun, we stopped in town for lunch at the Wharf. The food was really good! All meals were reasonably priced.

The restaurant wasn't terribly busy, and lacked some atmosphere - music and softer lighting would have helped. Our waiteress was very pleasant and friendly. The food was really very very good - we all enjoyed our meals. My daughter specifically enjoyed having her crepe suzettes served at the table - a nice touch. We were not able to get an... More

The "Wharf Street Brew Pub" is situated on the historic Wharf Street in Port Alfred. It is housed in the oldest commercial building in Port Alfred completed in 1853. The decor is simple with pictures of old Port Alfred being the focal pointWe have micro Brewery attached to us and sell three of our own beers. Our food is a selection of Pub Style food like fish and chips, schnitzels and burgers ranging to freshly caught line fish, in house matured steaks and a host of other things in between. We pride our selves on good food and service so please pop in if only to sample our local brew, you might well end up staying for a bite to eat as many do after seeing our menu.
