This was our first ever trip to Austria, and for our 7 days in Kitzbuhel we wanted to stay in a family run hotel that was not in the centre of everything but which was within easy walking distance of all the amenities Kitzbuhel had to offer, when we wanted to make use of them.

The Hotel Edelweiss gave us exactly what we were looking and much more - very good food at every meal (with my dairy-free diet catered for with soya milk and various very tasty vegetable soups in the evenings), spotlessly clean bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas, and a great atmosphere perpetuated by Klaus, Veronika and all their staff, all of whom exemplified what is great customer service - thank you to you all!

As we are neither skiers nor mountain hikers, I booked the Edelweiss more for us to use as a base from which we could make various sightseeing trips - it turned out to be a good decision giving us easy access to both the train station and central bus pick-up point which between them took us in pretty much any direction we wanted to go.

When I was trying to decide where to stay in Kitzbuhel the Edelweiss was already rated as the No 1 hotel in the town by TripAdvisor users, and having now actually stayed there we have discovered for ourselves exactly why that is.

At the end of our week-long stay there we moved on to Salzburg for 3 nights before going home. Our 3 star hotel in Salzburg had been double booked so we were upgraded to a 4 star one just round the corner, which whilst very clean and well located on the edge of the pedestrian area of Salzburg with easy access to all the main sites, did not even come close to the Edelweiss in terms of atmosphere, customer care and genuine hospitality!

All in all we had a lovely time in Austria, with the sun out for 95% of our time there and temperatures climbing up into the low 30's even though it was only the end of May / beginning of June. We've been back home now for over 2 months and my Mum is still telling people how much she enjoyed the entire trip, but her stay at the Edelweiss always gets a special mention.

Without any shadow of a doubt, we would recommend the Edelweiss to anyone - it was a great experience so go and pay them a visit!

We have just returned from a great week walking in the kitzbuhel area. Hotel great. The owners can not do enough for you. They arewelcoming and friendly and have lots of suggestions for walks and other activities in the area. Even if it rains there are things to do. The hotel staff are great and make the holiday perfect.

Room tip: Wi fi in lounge. All rooms have balconies and are clean and comfortable.

We chose this hotel because it was more on the edge of town, though only a short walk from the centre. A good decision; there was a Harley Davidson rally in the town whilst we were there and though it was fascinating, it was noisy according to those staying in the centre!

The accommodation is excellent, but it is the hospitality of the owners Klaus and Veronika that make it what it is. Polite, helpful, full of tips and ideas for exploring the local area. Great buffet breakfast, including hot food like scrambled eggs, sausages, beans and bacon. You are actively encouraged to take food from the cold buffet to make rolls for lunch. This, in effect, makes the hotel full board instead of the half board it is actually marketed as. There is a 5 course meal each evening which is of high quality. You have a 'drinks' allowance of one small beer, wine or soft drink a day, which is a lovely added touch. Additional drinks are resonably priced.

The reviews do mention a railway line which runs adjacent to the hotel. During the day it is not a problem. Our room was at the railway end of the hotel and though I was sometimes disturbed during the night by at least one nightly train, it was not a problem overall; and I am a light sleeper. You get tired with all the activity you do! Far quieter than Harley Davidsons or music groups that were sometimes playing in the centre of the town late on occasions!

You can walk to the two different local cable car stations to get on the mountains, which is a must. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, its location, accommodation, food and the charming, friendly welcoming service. WiFi is available in the lounge area only, but this was no problem. People tended to check their email, etc. during the evening and talk to each other!

Room tip: Rooms away from the railway would undoubtedly be quieter.

Just returned from a fortnight’s wonderful holiday at the Edelweiss. For us it was the perfect hotel.

The key to the Edelweiss’ success, as commented on throughout these reviews, is the personality and commitment of the owners, Klaus and Veronika. They will do absolutely anything and everything to help their guests have a great time. They are a font of advice on the best walks, based on their personal experience, and can provide information on all the transport links. They greeted us on arrival and were both there to say goodbye to us when we left, in the middle of the day. Their kindness knows no limits. Their staff are very well trained and also very helpful.

The location is about 5 minutes walk from the town centre, on the Hahnenkamm side of town. It is particularly convenient for the Hahnenkamm gondola and the bus stop for buses to Kirchberg and Aschau: also for the Kitzbuehel Hahnenkamm railway station

The accommodation is very comfortable, with in our case (Room 109) a very comfortable and large bed and a lovely shower room. It is on the railway side of the hotel, but we did not find this a problem.

The food is excellent. The breakfast (buffet style) is plentiful and well laid out, and you can make up a packed lunch from the spread. Free coffee/tea and cake between 3:30pm and 5:30 pm is a wonderful bonus. Dinner is five courses and was always of a high standard, with plenty of choice.

The garden is lovely to sit in on quiet afternoons, with tables and parasols for shade.

But always you come back to Klaus and Veronika. We found so many of the guests were returning stayers, and that really tells you everything you need to know about them and their hotel. Completely recommended.
