Virgin Atlantic Sept 2017 US to UK Upper Class

I'm traveling with a friend suffering from claustrophobia. This is our first VA flight and are trying to figure out the best seats for us to be able to talk. The video makes it look as though all passengers are travelling alone. Is it best to be seated 1 front 1 behind or across from each other ? Trip is getting close so appreciate any feed back!

You might find it better to sit across from each other.

There is a small place to sit at the end of each Upper Class seat so you can chat and even eat with your travel companion....as long as the seat belt signs aren't on.

Do to the design of the shell there really is no good way to talk to each other when both are in their seats even across the eisle. Your companion may like a window though. Plenty of inflight entertainment options to keep you occupied though.

The 'luxury' of flying VS's Upper Class is that each individual seat is quite spacious, but also that it's quite private. Thus, there are no seats that are at all sociable, as such. Sitting side by side, you need to sit on the edge of your seat and peer round the partition to talk to the person sat beside you. Across the aisle the seats do not quite line up although you can see each other's face, but would need to shout across the aisle to hold a conversation.

I'd vote for a window seat each, next to each other, as at least you get the views out of the window somewhat behind you, which may help with the claustrophobia. Hopefully, also, the more spacious seats compared to Economy or PE will help.

The design of the upper class seats means you are enclosed in your own space, so not the best bet for someone with claustrophobia IMHO.

For landing and take off you will have to be in your suite. When seat belt signs are off you can go and join your friend in their suite, sitting on the ottoman. Otherwise you can both decamp to the bar...not for the booze of course but for the space.

Thank you. That's our current arrangement.

Thank you all for your replies. Each is very helpful. Currently I'm in a middle pod facing her in a window pod. I'll post our experience in October!
