Going to Puerto Rico-best way to get water on a plane?

My wife and I are going to Puerto Rico next week to search for a relative we cannot communicate with. We need to bring as much water with us as physically possible. Any suggestions as to how to do this?

Buy as much water in the terminal as you can carry after security. I'm sure there will be water distribution points set up in Puerto Rico by the time you arrive.

Put it in an extra suitcase, even if you have to pay extra.

I would rather buy a portable, manual water purifier. Is better in the long term, plus you can leave it with your relatives. Buy also some water treatment pills.

Have to agree that a purifier may be your best bet.

Check a bag full of water jugs. If you're willing to pay a lot you can bring multiple bags and fill them all and pay an overweight bag fee. It'll cost but is possible.

Then if you really want to max it out bring an empty carry on and buy a whole bunch of water bottles in the airport store after you are through security.

Double check with your airline that they are letting people in. The entire island is without power for an unknown time.

I hope your find your relative.

We booked a flight through Jet Blue for next week. I writing this knowing anything can happen like the flight being cancelled and the lack of rental car. One tip-anyone going should bring cash, lots of it.

whilst i admire your proposal, the amount of water that you could bring would be so minimal it is not really going to help. there is water there, but just needs to be filtered to remove any impurities. they are using road tankers to distribute water to places that have lost supplies.

food and or clothing might be a better idea.

Also, at 8.8lbs/gal, not much water, for a lot of weight.

Such is better handled as freight.

Wife's corporation is doing such for Mexico City, with freight airplanes being donated.

Good luck in your endeavor though, and the best to all in PR,

Don't think you would be able to bring enough water to make any difference. And, it's very heavy and could easily leak.

The water purifier is a great idea.
