Is Gotogate a reliable website?

I'm looking for flights to NY through Skyscanner and they have a good deal from LHR out with virgin and back with Delta.

I've never seen them before, presume they're ok to book through, has anyone used them before?

Thanks in advance :)

IF you have never seen this web site before why would you presume it is OK to book with them?? Just because Skyscanner lists them does not mean they are "OK".

I'd Google them with the word /review after their name to see what folks say.

I would never book with an unknown web site!!!

I have never heard of them!

When I googled nothing bad came up, one website showed it as legit but there wasn't a whole lot of info. I'm pretty sure it was dot com. I presumed sky scanner had some kind of vetting process... I will look into it a bit more before booking.

Do no presume that sky scanner or Trip Advisor or any of the other comparison web sites do any "vetting" before they list a 3rd party ticket seller!

These sites pay money to get listed.

AFAIK skyscanner do not vet any of the linked companies. Lucky you asked first. You do realise this is a Swedish company?

The advice is always to book directly with the airline. Just look through this forum and see all the problems people have booking with 3rd parties. Why is Virgin going to sell a flight at a very cheap price to a 3rd party when the price direct is more expensive. The answer is they don't. These 3rd party sellers generally do not advertise live prices, they are just 'prices from'.

Save yourself hassle and book direct.

ZuluGoose,

Search on this forum for Bravofly, eDreams, CheapoAir, fly.co.uk and Airfasttickets. In fact you don't need to do much searching because the first few pages are awash with complaints about those combos and their shonky practices and services.

Why look at them? They all have links from Skyscanner too. The only thing you need to do to show up on those searches is to pay money.

Do as smudge says. Book directly with the airline. It's the only way to book online with live fares (not fares that sold out last month, which the bookers don't tell you until they have your money and come back for more).

Thanks for your advice, I will swerve that one then!

I'm not one to fall into the trap of a scam, I'm probably quite the opposite which is why I checked. I didn't realise any company could show up on sky scanner, that's a bit naughty!

I've always booked through airlines direct or STA travel, but this is a bit of a last minute additional holiday so there hasn't been much planning yet.

I will keep to my normal ways in that case!

just to correct any misconceptions- Gotogate are a big player in the Scandanavian travel industry and are used by many companies as their travel agent. They are certainly not mickey mouse and unknown. they have been around since 1999 and were probably the first internet based travel agent in Norway.
