Staying in hostels with no safety deposit box

Hi :)

For the first week of our trip we are doing a mojo surf trip where we will be staying in share accomodation. Just found out there is no front desk safe and was told to just leave valuables in the room. This makes me nervous about what to do with our passports and valuables. Anyone have experience with this and have any suggestions??

Thanks!!

Buy a travel safe, such as Yale, or a Pacsafe item, depending on how much you need to lock away.
