Sangla Trip queries

We are 3 families [Couple + 1 kid each of age around 8yrs] visiting Sangla in May.

Going mainly to enjoy scenic views, light trekking and cold weather.

Schedule

-------- ----

Day 1 : Reach Chandigarh Station 4pm. Hire Vehicle (Innova) for Sangla. Stop at night at Narkanda or some such place.

Day 2 : Morning - Proceed for Sangla. Reach by 1pm.

Day 3, Day4, Day5, Move in and around Sangla. (Kalpa, Chitkul etc)

Day 6 : Check out at noon - Hire Vehicle to Head back to New Delhi Airport (stop over again at Night at Narkanda maybe)

Day 7 Night : Flight from New Delhi aiport

Please clarify following doubts

-------------

1. Hire vehicle for entire 7 days or book individual trips? Booking individual trips may be economical.

2. Contact person for hiring vehicle at Chandigarh.

3. Assuming stopover is necessary both ways, is Narkanda right choice?

You can stay in Sarahan instead of Narkanda. There are limited accommodations in Sangla, who has good view. But those are pretty expensive. Rather, Chitkul is more scenic, have number of hotels, though those are in budget category.

Hiring a cab from/to Chandigarh would be convenient.

Thanks for advice Sir.

1. Will be sticking to 1 vehicle for convenience.

2. Regarding, to and fro stopovers, these will be just for night stay..so instead of pre-booking, looking to book a fitting hotel which we come across on the way. Guess that should be ok ?

3. Am close to booking stay in Sangla [mid-range budget, just cleanliness is criteria]. Could not locate any stay at Chitkul online. Any leads or online links for Chitkul stay ?

Most of the hotels in Chitkul are budget category hotels, probably they don't have online booking facility. May try any hotel in Rakcham also.

@Sanjiv1978 - The places are at high altitudes but does not cause AMS. and it depends a lot how you are travelling and how much in a day. The biggest trouble can be motion sickness. There are some mild medicines which I also give my daughter while in hills to escape motion sickness but there will be nothing for 4 "months" old kid to give without doctor's consent.

As mentioned above as well, keep her body well wrapped in woolens.

CheerS!

Luv.

Hi ,

I am planning a trip to Sangla in April. I saw in quite a few reviews that road condition from Wangtu to Karcham and Karcham to Sangla is horrible and there is some diversion from Tapri to Chuling which is pretty narrow. Is it still the same state ? We are a family of 3 including 11 years old boy. Will mostly be taking an innova. Will stop over in Thanedar.

regards,

Sumana

Yes the road is in the same state and very prone to landslides and rockfall.
