Hiking along the Road

Are there any pros / cons to getting off a shuttle bus and just walking along the road?

It is a fine idea but be aware of closure areas and carry a bus schedule. Ask the bus driver for advice on where to get off and how far too hike.

I think it is a great idea. Maybe even get off the road and hike a bit on the Tundra.
