Glacier National Park in early October

This October, we are planning to go to Glacier National Park somewhere between October 6-14. We have not made any reservations yet, so we are flexible to change those dates. We are wondering what will it be like visiting in early-mid October. How are the crowds? Also, will the Going to the Sun Road be open, or will it be closed for construction or snow around those dates? Are any campsites still open? Are the visitor centers going to be closed?

If you have any information, please leave a response, Thank You!

GNP's official website has lots of good info about campsite opening dates, road info, and visitor center dates. Here are some relevant links:

Crowds will have died down by October, especially since most services inside the park are shut down by then. Seasonal bridges will have been removed from trails. The GTTSR could close temporarily due to snow (or "permanently" if it seems like the snow isn't stopping). You have to be more self-sufficient that time of year. The campgrounds generally will be in primitive status that time of year.
