Help choosing a hotel please.

My husband and I are traveling to Bermuda for the first time next spring and are really struggling with choosing a hotel. We are in our late fifties, very fit and well traveled. We enjoy quiet, lovely, but not snobby hotels with nice amenities and activities, good choice of restaraunts or ability to walk to shops, dining.

We prefer nature to night life. Love to bike, snorkel, dive, hike, padddleboard, kayak, explore etc...we'd like to be on the beach. Budget: <$500 USD per night. Suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

Perhaps if you tell us why you are struggling to choose a hotel it will help us to suggest some to you.

When you say spring which month is it likely to be. Bermuda is not in the Caribbean and weather may be a factor.

NOT-so-minor details tend to matter.

As an example: the WHEN of your proposed visit might make a great deal of difference in your decision. Bermuda enjoys a SEMI-tropic climate, with '..seasons..'. So, iof you're planning on a Bermuda visit during December-thru-March...Bermuda's Winter/Off season and hoping for a typical tropic island/beach experience, Bermuda will most certainly NOT be your best choice.

>>>...but not snobby hotels with nice amenities and activities, good choice of restaraunts or ability to walk to shops, dining...<<<

Not sure what your definition of "..snobby.." might be. "..snobby..' is as often as not a term that describes the individual who applies it as it does the qualities it is intends to describe. But...if understated charm, welcoming hospitality, politesse and the basic tenets of civility don't offend you...Bermuda is the place to go. But if you're looking for a tee shirt, cargo shorts and flip-flops all the time...try somewhere else.

In Bermuda, her largest concentrations of alternative dining (all types, cuisines, prices), shopping, nightlife...within comfortable distance of your hotel will be found in downtown Hamilton. There are NO beaches with kayaks, paddleboard, diving or snorkeling in Hamilton.

Bermuda's best beaches with hotel that offer easy access to kayaks, paddleboards, snorkeling, diving, watersports will be located along her western, south (most beachfront resorts/hotels) and eastern shores. NONE within convenient/comfortable walking distances to much in the way of alternative dining options, shopping, nightlife. All of these resorts/hotels will have at least a couple/few dining alternatives on-premises.

With this in mind....why not scroll through the HOTELS listings on these TripAdvisor BERMUDA pages-- https:/…Hotels-g147255-Bermuda-Hotels.html --to see what's on offer and judge for your self what seems a good fit, through the filters of your own personal preferences, priorities, special needs, tastes, '..expectations..' and budget and come up with your own '..short list..' of a couple/few that seem a fit and then return for more information, experience, advice to assist you to dial-in with your selection ??

Take a look at Cambridge Beaches. You should be able to find an accommodation within your budget, the setting is beautiful and natural, plus H2O Watersports is adjacent to the property. They rent paddle boards, kayaks, small power boats and sunfish. Oleander has a scooter rental stable on the property if you’re so inclined. If not, it’s a short walk to the bus route and the hotel runs a shuttle to the Dockyards where you can connect with the Ferry System. The beaches are very nice and well maintained. The food is very good, Breezees is an especially lovely spot.

For us, it’s the perfect Bermuda experience.

Hi BarbaraUsa,

We are happy to see that you are considering Bermuda as a destination for your vacation next spring. One hotel that we would recommend is the Grotto Bay Beach Resort www.grottobay.com . This hotel is the only one on island that offers an option for an all inclusive package, an onsite water-sports facility, beach and pool, and the Cathedral cave. They are also in walking distance of popular attractions such as the Crystal Caves, Blue Hole Park and the Swizzle Inn Restaurant. The town of St. George's and the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo are also a short distance away in opposite directions.

You may also be interested in the Coco Reef Resort which is located a 10 minutes drive outside of the City of Hamilton www.cocoreefbermuda.com The Coco Reef is a great place for relaxation and walkking, has an onsite beach, pool and restaurant, and is ideally located to visit any of the famous South Shore beaches gotobermuda.com/article/south-shore-bermuda You can also view a list of more places to stay on island here: www.gotobermuda.com/places-to-stay
