Overview of internet and Wi-Fi spots in Santiago de Cuba

Dear all,

I would like to have a complete overview of the places in Santiago de Cuba where I can connect to the internet. With this I mean:

- Wi-Fi hotspots

- ETECSA offices with computers

- Hotels with internet (wireless or pc's)

- ...

The website of www.etecsa.cu does not show all those spots because it is not regularly updated.

Can anyone help me out please? I am especially interested in those spots that have opened more recently. Does anyone have an idea of how many internet points there are available at the moment?

Thank you very much!

Julie

Dear Julie

As you walk around Cuba you will notice people curiously congregated. They will have found a hot spot.

If you are staying at casas in Cuba, they will help you find them.

The internet is a novel experience in Cuba, and access is not cheap. Hotel access may still be prohibitively expensive, if it's at all available. An American we met last year paid out several hundred dollars to stay connected for a number of days because he had business matters outsdtanding.

Good luck.

1 cuc per hour , for a tourist is cheap .

Do not get ripped off at the hotels telling you it is dearer .

Thank you. I am aware about the prices and I know you often see people getting together in public parks with Wi-Fi hot spots, but I would like to have an overview of the places, so this is not exactly the question I was pointing to, and these are not the answers I was looking for. I have been in Cuba several times and I know the flow of things... :-) But, thanks anyway. I still hope that other people might have more useful responses.

I guess on your next trip you should spend all your vacation time cataloging all this information for the next person. Oh and by the way can you supply a complete list of every wifi hotspot, every Internet cafe, every library and hotel that has access to pcs in Belgium cuz I might just happen to be somewhere in Belgium and don’t want to take the time to ask a local.

If you are a frequent traveler to Cuba then you should have no problem locating wifi or internet services.

The Etecsa website was updated in September - that is pretty recent.

Do you know if there have been any changes since ?

If you really want up to date information try asking in the Etecsa office in Santiago.

Casa Granda by Parque Cespedes and Hotel Melia Santiago de Cuba are 2 places in the city that have Wifi. You can check at the hotel or casa particular that you are staying at for the use of a computer or get info on a place to go to. As far as resorts go.......only Brisas Sierra Mar has Wifi.

Sorry I can't be of more help but when we go to Cuba we get away from everything. CQ:)
