Majestic mirage

Flew in yesterday. Place is fantastic. Weather awesome. Only bad thing is the seaweed is out of control. Never imagined it could get so much but hey can't control it. Just get through the first layer and it is fine

We are swimming in it. I mean the seaweed is bad I will admit but once you move past the first layer by shore it gets better: is what you make of it I guess

I will add that we just walked to the left of the mirage and once you get past the elegance it is not swimmable. Way worse down there

which buildings do we need to avoid due to the Royalton construction next door. We are looking to stay in the Adult section only. Thanks

Buildings 3 and 4 are the adult buildings on the opposite side of the construction. Buildings 5, 6 ,7 are adult buildings on the side of the construction. You can still stay in 5,6,7 but just ask for a room facing the main pools.

That is what we did in May. We were in building 5 facing the inside of the resort and heard no construction noise. (of note, buildings 4 and 5 are closest to the beach)...if you want to see how the resort runs, search on YouTube "walking tour of the Majestic Mirage"...that will give you an idea of the layout of the resort.

Hope that helps and have a great vacation!

To be honest, i'm bracing myself for the water to be pretty crappy for my October trip. I will always choose that turquoise-clear'ish water over the biggest fanciest resort pool but unfortunately picture after picture of the bavaro area I'll be staying at is typically greenish and full of muck usually, no matter the season.

I still love Punta Cana and I hope not to get people upset with this post and yes, I get the whole, "hey there is seaweed in the sea argument, and fish in the ocean etc"..actually now that I think of it when I was in Ocho Rios people were actually feeding little fish and they were jumping right into us, and it was not much a problem as that sand and water was the most beautiful I've ever seen and in 2 weeks with all kinds of weather I saw not one strand of seaweed, sargassum, poo-poo platter lol, get my drift?

From what I read from others on here and reviews is that depending on conditions as well as where you were that while there was always a possibility of sargassum or other stuff washing up, it hadn't been to the extent of the 2015 sargassum explosion. Since then it seems that its now the new normal and you'd be lucky to get a few days of that pristine clear blue. I'm sure Irma doesn't help matters out so I'll go in with the hope that for a 2wk stay we can hopefully get at least 3 days of clear and blue.
