There are always direct flights from Miami and some days from Charlotte, and seasonally from Atlanta and a few others. Other than direct from US mainland you can fly through San Juan or STT which have more direct flight options to those airports. Direct from US is typically best option.

American flies direct from Miami and Spirit from Fort Lauderdale. Jet Blue goes through San Juan. Delta is another choice.

Plymouth, welcome to the islands. You have chosen wisely with visiting St. Croix February and March are ideal months to get away from the winter in the Northeast. Although this is high season. Flights and routes continue to change but the most consistent are the ones mentioned. We always take American from DC to Miami then direct from Miami to STX. I would use kayak or the Google flight matrix from your area airport(s) to start looking and then book direct with the airline. We pack carry on bags only. Enjoy the planning. And come back with questions.
