Single traveller to US Virgin Island

Am planning a solo trip for 2 weeks over Christmas vacation to St Thomas. Would like to go Island hopping in a sailboat and share costs, etc with 4-5 others.

Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated on any other activities for someone travelling alone..

Also, any hotels/resorts near St Thomas that cater to single clientele?

It would be helpful to know what type of accommodations and budget you're thinking about. That being said, a convenient place to stay in town with great views of the harbor is At Home in the Tropics B&B. The hosts are very nice, breakfasts exceptional, and you're no more than a ten-minute walk from shopping and the ferries to St. John and the BVI. Some folks also like the Crystal Palace.

If you prefer the beach, you might look at the Ritz (most expensive) or Secret Harbour, Sapphire, or Bolongo Bay (both Secret Harbour and Bolongo have very good restaurants and Bolongo usually has a West Indian night that's fun). All of the above are located within a few minutes of Red Hook for the ferry to St. John.

The Marriott, too, might be a possibility. Check on package deals through Expedia for airfare/accomodations...some good deals at the Marriott. They have their own little ferry over to town, so that can be an advantage, but you'd still need a car or taxi to get around the island.

As a solo traveler, you might prefer accommodations that have some social activities so you can have more options for company if you'd like to do some socializing.

Bolongo Resort is right on a beach, and has something scheduled every day/night. I think they offer an excursion to St John, and maybe a BVI tour, too. Wyndham Sugar Bay also has a varied activity calendar.

You can now take the day ferry to St Croix, though it's usually (always?) a very rough ride (though some people think that's part of the excitement!).

Several companies offer day trips to BVI. You can make a solo reservation, and they'll put you on a sailing that already has other passengers. They all offer excellent service, so whoever you choose will surely show you a great time.
