Saunders Bay is only 10 minutes from Nassau via the #10 bus ($1.25 each person). Calm waters, and there’s a Shell gas station across the street to get drinks and snacks, as well as other fast food restaurants close by.
It’s a little farther out of Nassau, but Love Beach is also very nice. It’s around 30 minutes west of Nassau, just past Compass Point. You can take the #10 or 12a bus, or take a taxi. Nice beach, lots of trees for shade. Snorkeling is decent. There’s a bar/restaurant for drinks and food called Nirvana, and you can rent lounge chairs and water toys pretty inexpensively.
