The Riu Paradise Island is not like most of the other Riu hotels, which are new, modern, and somewhat posh. This Riu is an older style hotel. The Riu purchased this property from the Sheraton a number of years ago. The lobbies and common areas have been updated, but the rooms and hallways are tired and need to be renovated. I understand that renovations are planned in the near future.
The hotel is otherwise decent, and I would rate it as a 3 1/2 star, and it is priced accordingly. There's nothing wrong with the hotel, providing you know what to expect when you arrive there.
