Hi Mitzi1969,

We have been to Melia Cozumel several time and going back on Feb 29 for 2 weeks.

Melia is a good 4 star Hotel. Great service and friendly staff. Most people that I have seen disappointed out of this hotel are difficult to please people.

The food is good at the buffet and A la Carte restaurant keep in mind that some of the menu will come back. These places are just like any other buffet in you own town. The cooking staff tries very hard to please the vast majority of guest.

Great beach to walk about 4 km long. Just like any other place in Cozumel this is Iron shore so yes they is rocks in the sand and you need to navigate around them to go swimming.

The beach is cleaned every day before you get up and never had to play the chair game their. You will always find chairs available.

The have a great staff of GO's to do crazy games during the day by the kids pool or on the beach. At night they have good shows to entertain the guest.

If you need something fixed in your room call the front desk and tell them what is wrong. This being high season some of the rooms will have problems because the last guest didn't tell the staff about the problem and no one could attend to it before you come in. At time it does get really hot and you will feel the air conditioning not to cut it this is the tropics and not north American's standards it is Mexico.

Yes you can fine little tiny bugs in your room. Just link home they will do something about it. We found bugs last New years around our sink and they came in and fix it. The sink drip and they fixed it.

We where told by the staff that the little bugs are looking for sugar from the counters and since lots of the things we bring back to our room have been expose to sweet drinks during the day they are coming back to the room with us.

Sand flees can be a problem all over the island at times. Bring you self so deet insecticide and you will be fine.

Must do things for someone new.

Trip are the Island and stop at the beach bars on the east side.

Snorkeling (try it even if you are not a strong swimmer you will enjoy it. (life vest are available.

Sunset cruise on the Manta. Buy you tickets are the El Cozumelenos Dive shop. It's 30.00 pp and a lot of fun on a nice evening. Great show on board with all you can drink and munches...not for kids.

Pirate dinner cruise if you have kids. Great show and dinner is lobster and steak. Can't miss on a great evening of fun.

If you don't dive the submarine ride is expensive but to me worth it to see the nice reef underwater.

Go to the plaza on Sunday night listen to the music band palying and dance in the street with the locals.

On top of it all relax and enjoy your self you are on vacation.

Sorry forgot.

Like all of the hotels that are AI drinks are served from 10h30 am till the last bar closes because of lack of customers.

If you get rowdy, lowed and to drunk be prepared for security to escort you back to your room. Some party animal at the hotel last year though it was rude to do.

You know what! they are not the only ones at the hotel. They will take care of it and we have every right to do so.

If you don't want to go back and fort to the bar all the time bring your self an insulated cup that can hold more then 8 ounces. The plastic cup they have are small and don't take long to go down.
