New Orleans (or Galveston) to Progreso by ship

I'd like to travel to Progreso/Merida by ship and bring my auto. Is there such a "ferry" service?

There was a Nova Scotia-based "cruise ferry" company that self-generated a big splash (they buzzed travel discussion boards with plants who would ask questions, and then post excited answers) when they ran service from from Tampa to Merida for the 2002-2003 winter season. Service was subsequently placed on hiatus, supposedly because of problems with port accessibility.

Many people would like this to be running again but I fear it won't be this year. We hope next year to hav e 3 ferries from tampa, Houston and new Orleans.

The people at Casa Isidora in Progreso are the ones who can advise you. Contact them at www.casaisidora.com They are vrey knowledgeable.
