Which border crossing are you planning to use to enter Cambodia?

Coming from Koh Chang, you would go to Trat, which is only a short distance. Go to the Trat bus station, and get a minibus to the Had Lek border, which takes about 75 minutes and costs 120B The Cambodian border people here are notorious for overcharging for a Cambodian visa,it should be 20USD but they always want 1200THB,which is twice the price. You might get it cheaper if you are prepared to stand your ground. If you are traveling with a Thai national they won't need a visa.If they can speak Khmer you stand a chance of getting the visa cheaper. My wife ,who is Vietnamese, can speak pretty good Khmer, and when the officials here wanted to charge us over the top,she argued with them in Khmer, and they backed down. There aren't any ferries to Sihanoukville any more,it's either bus, which leaves in the morning (I don't think there is currently an afternoon bus,as it's low season) and costs 8-10 USD ,shared minibus,or taxi-about 50USD

Hello Simonfulwood,

Nearest crossing point to Ko Chang is not necessarily the best.

Please consider also going up Thai highway 318, which easy and fast driving to Poipet and crossing there in to Cambodia and from where all roads lead to Siem Reap/Angkor.

There are several answers to your original posting.

Best regards. Ian
