Over night in Nanaimo and want a nice place to stay.
I am probably not spelling this correctly, but check Ti Na Mara
Unfortunately there are not a lot of options for hotels in Nanaimo and there are not any Inn type accommodations. If you wanted to be near the waterfront which is a nice area to go for walks then the Coast Bastion would probably be your best bet downtown.
The Tigh Na Mara is a lovely place as suggest above, it is expensive though and in the community of Parksville approximately 20 to 30 minutes drive from Nanaimo depending on where you are coming from.
You may want to check out some of the Bed and Breakfasts in Nanaimo, there are some nice ones with ocean views and they would be the closest to an Inn style accommodation.
Marla, do you have a budget in mind? And are you arriving by plane, or the ferry, or will you have a car?
Coast Bastion is downtown, and right across the street is the Dorchester. Dorchester is actually a Best Western.
North of downtown a bit is the newish Ramada. And then further north is a place right on the lake, on the highway, Inn on the Lake.
Thanks Vancouverite, I always forget I can do that! So yes, it looks like they will have a car. Tigh Na Mara would work then, as long as they are up for the drive after getting off the ferry. It isn't that far of a drive, and a four lane highway all the way out there. Nicer than anything in Nanaimo I think.
There are not many views that can surpass a top floor harbor view room than those that can be had at the Coast Bastion Inn. Overlooking the Boat Basin and Nanaimo Harbour one can watch the activity on the water or look towards Vancouver and the Coastal Mountain range. This newly renovated and renovated property offers excellent service standards, lovely rooms and a newly re-launched menu at their in-house restaurant, Minnoz. This is certainly a property that you should consider staying at whilst in Nanaimo Marla.
