We will be travelling through Cape Breton in our motorhome this September. Our plan for the Sydney area is to start early from Sydney for the Miners Museum. We would head to Louisbourg in the afternoon, spend the night, tour the fortress the next day and return to Sydney late afternoon-ish. I realize we aren't going to get the full meal deal at the fortress with it being shoulder season but we would still like to see it. Plus we would like to explore the short walks/hikes nearby.
Is this schedule reasonable? Could someone tell me how the road is (I think it is called the Marconi Trail, the one by the water) from Glacé Bay to Louisbourg for driving in a motorhome? Or would we be better to backtrack through Sydney?
