Gare d'autocars de Montréal to Gare Centrale with luggage?

Hi! We will be arriving by bus at Gare d'autocars de Montréal, each of us with a small backpack + 2 big suitcases (with wheels).

Is it possible to get to Gare Centrale (where our hotel is located just around the corner) via public transport with such a luggage? Bus, metro or anything else?

We are on a very tight budget so even considered walking, but it's a bit of a distance…

Walking would be long with the luggage. The metro would be possible as the stations are equipped with escalators. If your luggage has wheels then you should be alright.

As TravelAdvice mentionned, you must take the Berri Uqam metro, which is right beside the autocar station. Take the orange line to Bonaventure station. Get off and follow the signs on the ceiling towards Gare Centrale/Central Station.

If you do opt to take a taxi, it shouldn't be more than 5-7$

Thanks! Taxi actually seems comparable in price to metro but not sure if we will fit in with all our bags.

Keep in mind that the elevator at Bonaventure only takes you from the platform to the level where the turnstiles are, but no further -- so from there, you need to find the set of revolving doors (actually, you can go through the swing door to the right of the revolving doors if you press the button and wait oh, 20 seconds for a long beep to indicate that they're open), then up an escalator, up a short flight of 4 low-rise, wide stairs, turn left, through a double set of doors, up another short flight of stairs, up another, smaller escalator, through more tunnels and FINALLY, you're there.

(If you wanted to avoid the 2 sets of stairs, you can turn right at the top of the first escalator, go up into the 1000 de la Gauchetière building and then out onto the street, and kitty corner under the CN sign is an entrance to the train station.

Since you can sit in the front seat of taxis here, unlikely just two people would not fit even with huge suitcases, since you could put one in the front seat or in the back.

Taxi Fare Finder calculates the trip at $8 in medium traffic (including a tip), or a couple of dollars more in heavy traffic. The métro would cost you $5.50 for 2 tickets.
