Closest Neighbourhoods to Old Town

We will be visiting in the fall and will rent a car. It is my understanding that parking and parking costs can be a problem in Old Town. We would like to stay in a neighbourhood that is close to Old Town and we could walk there and leave the car behind to explore the Upper Town. Our hope is to rent an AirBNB with parking. Would you please provide the names of the neighbourhoods that are the closest to Upper Town? We'll use the car for day trips only.

Hi

We actually stayed at the Marriott in old town with a rental car and easily drove around on all the streets. We budgeted for parking which is no more that what you would pay in Edmonton downtown.

The people that expect free parking at hotels in the suburbs are the ones that complain about parking costs. If you live in a big city it is on par with the rest of them.

And someone will hopefully come along to advise about the status of AirBnB in QC. Unless it is a goverment approved property it will not be legal.

There is no problem at all with parking in the old city. Lots of lots and considerably cheaper than most north American cities. We drive and park there every visit.

Legal rentals are found on quebecoriginal.com other websites do not show which are the legal rentals, so best avoid those.

I can certainly use a map, but I thought you can recommend a neighbourhood that has cafes, bakeries and bars. Looking for a vibrant area that is close to Old Town. Suggestions?

Rue Cartier is close to old town but it is a good 20 Minutes walking at least. But is is a nice area with less tourists lots of cafes and restaurants and some shops too.

Yeah, anywhere from rue Cartier to Old Quebec (Montcalm/St-Jean-Baptiste neighbourhoods) is probably what you're looking for. Rue Cartier and rue St-Jean have plenty of restaurants, cafés, bakeries and shops. In Lower town you have St-Roch neighbourhood, along rue St-Joseph.
