family travelling from Worthing to Brighton for a day trip

Hi,

We are visiting Brighton as a family for the first time. Unfortunately we couldn't find a hotel to meet our budget in the city so we have booked the Premier Inn, Worthing.

I was wondering if anyone knew the best and cheapest way to get to Brighton for the day once we are there. I was looking at train prices and it was nearly £40 (and that's if booked in advance!)

We will have a car but I know parking can be expensive and difficult to find in Brighton.

Any top tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When are you coming ? Will you be able to travel off peak and/or at weekends ? Do you have any railcards ? Have you considered the bus ?

Your group can travel anywhere on the Southern network for £39 with a group day-save, so I’d hope you can do better for that short trip. Non railcard deals are here : www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/1422.aspx

Hi,

Worthing to Brighton for a family of 4 off peak should be around £16 return. There are groupsave tickets available. Don’t bring a car to Brighton. Train will be the fastest and possibly cheapest option. Do check for any possible engineering works that can shut the line at weekends. If that happens buses replace trains.

Stagecoach have a family ticket. Their 700 Coastliner bus runs frequently between Worthing and Brighton

Why don’t you book an Airbnb in Brighton & cancel your Worthing hotel? Save on travel costs to Brighton & only have to pay for parking..(some Airbnb’s have parking)...
