Underground Heathrow to St. Pancras

If we take the Heathrow Express, will there be a stop at the St.

Pancras terminal? We will be connecting to Eurostar.

Do we need to pre-buy our tickets. Thanks for the help.

The HEX travels to (and from) Paddington, nowhere near St Pancras; at £20 per person it's one of the most expensive rail journeys in the world. Cash single fare on the Underground is £5.50 for adults; should you use PAYG on Oyster and travel off peak you'll pay £3 per person.

The Underground journey from LHR to King's Cross will take 55 - 60 minutes and is a step free journey start to finish; St Pancras is adjacent to KX.

From any of the three Tube stations at Heathrow (one at T5, another in T4 and one serving T1,3) take a Piccadilly line towards Cockfosters. Alight at King's Cross station and take the escalator up to the ticket hall. There is a wide gate through which you may roll your bags.

After you pass through the barriers, follow the signs to St Pancras. You'll walk through a subway (underground walkway) and pass the ticket hall and entrance to the Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City line platforms on the left.

Past that ticket hall you'll see stairs up to St Pancras. There is a small lift to the right of the stairs. Turn right out of the lift and walk through to the main concourse at St Pancras station, with Eurostar departures on the right.

Time needed to walk from KX to Eurostar departures, perhaps three minutes.

Should you decide on the HEX you may take the Underground to King's Cross (with a change at Edgware Road), a taxi or the 205 bus. Travel time 15 - 20 minutes.

If you want to go to Paris, why not fly direct to Paris? If not, then consider flying to Paris from Heathrow. Which flights have you booked?

Regarding the journey from Heathrow to St. Pancras, the tube is by far the most convenient; 55-60 mins depending on terminal, no changes and step free. As TP mentions the HEX is very expensive and you have to faff around changing at Paddington (which does involve stairs) and with all that hassle it may save you 5-10 minutes.

Assuming you already bought your ticket to LHR, see if you can add a flight connection to Paris, that way if anything goes wrong such as late arrival, your connection is protected. Assuming that's too expensive for you or its not possible then make sure you have an absolute minimum of 3 hours and 4-5 would be prudent, between landing and train departure.

And as said, take the tube direct to KingsX not the HEX which doesn't go anywhere near where you want and involves a change to the tube anyway, or a taxi ( out of interest why were you looking at taking the HEX to Paddington in the first place? )
