HaHa. You come from Nottingham and are worried about Coventry! Only joking but no doubt you have heard the stories. There are some areas of Coventry I would avoid but that applies to most cities. If too worried about the city centre you could stay at Novotel [A444 / M6] junction, Coventry North / Bedworth / Nuneaton. That is "just down the road" from the Ricoh.

Assuming the concert finishes late I'm not sure of your options for eating afterwards

Tell you what when your mrs pulls up at the Ramada she will be saying 'told you so'. It may be one of Coventry's newest hotels and I believe reviews are good, but it certainly doesnt have the kirstie and phil 'kerb appeal' particularly the car park. However having said that there are a few pubs/eating establishments right in the vicinity but I personally feel the area is more student-i-fied if you get me. (Area looks bit tired I would say). Ramada is situated in town - the Ricoh isn't in town and only a few mins from Junction 3 of M6, and on a concert day will take you over a good half hour to drive there - park up somewhere which undoubdtedly will not be in the immediate vicinity of the ground as well. Getting there is not the problem as people all arrive at staggered times, but I can assure you getting out will be frustrating. I would look at Novotel Coventry which is walkable to the Ricoh, or the Premier Inn at Griff Beefeater (Bedworth/Nuneaton) or the Travel lodge Nuneaton. These locations are within 10 mins of Ricoh. They may be based Treacle town side of the city but talking from experience, I know where I would rather stop. Have a look around Coventry in the day either side of the event. Good luck - did you know you can stay at the Ricoh itself? it is now in the De Vere Hotel chain and bedrooms are overlooking the pitch. There is a big casino underneath the stadium where you can eat and live entertainment. Just a thought.

You wont be able to walk from Premier inn to Ricoh it is dual carriageway/bypass. It is literally no more than a 5 or 10 minute drive away though. If get there early enough you can get parking by Novotel (usually about £10 on the night) or various other places. Try avoid parking at venue itself as it is a pig to get out of. Or try cab company - here are a couple of numbers for a quote Edwards Taxis: 02476 315845 or MGM Taxis 024 7632 5555. You may want to pre-agree a return journey to them as could struggle to get one at the venue. If you fancy a pint before there are a couple of pubs in the vicinity bout 15 min walk to the Ricoh) could be a good place to agree the collection or drop off. Bull and Anchor do meals as well, Pub grub always seems quite busy. check it out and google map as well and then you can see how easy to walk to. CV7 9HN. http://www.bullandanchor-coventry.co.uk/

Just follow the crowd because everyone will be walking in the same direction. good luck

also couple of eating drinking establishments by the Premier Inn at Nuenaton (which is really on outskirts of Nuneaton nearer to the Ricoh).

The Premier Inn is tagged on to side of a a Beefeaster (Griff House)

Opposite there is a small entertainment place, Frankie & Bennies, Bermuda Park 2for1 pub, MaccyD and KFC so easy to eat before you go - get cab from there into the venue

You could walk from the Premier Inn at Griff House but it is almost 4 miles. You just follow the B4113. Is the Novotel at Wilson's Lane booked up? This is just a mile away. Other than that the taxi suggestion would work and your original plan was to park the car up and get a taxi to the venue. There wouldn't be a lot in the price of a taxi comparing a journey from the centre of Coventry or Premier Inn to Ricoh

Premier Inn in CV10 is at the Griff House Hotel? This is midway between Bedworth and Nuneaton town centres, on the B4113 and just round the "corner" for the A444. Premier to Foleshill GWRC is just over 4.5 miles and 10 minutes by car [Taxi]. From FGWRC to Ricoh is 2 miles / 5 minutes by car or just over 3/4 miles / 15 - 20 minutes walk. Back to Premier from Ricoh is about 5 1/2 miles / 10 - 12 minutes subject to traffic.

Spencer club, if I have the right one, is going away from the Premier. Just outside the Coventry city ring road [which is close to the city centre] on Albany Road. 3 miles / 8 to 10 mins from FGWRC or 8 miles / 18 - 20 mins from Premier. All times depending on time of day of course
