Rail-bus replacement

Just discovered that when I come to Edinburgh my train journey to Dundee will be replacement bus due to engineering work. Could someone please tell me where I will be able to catch the bus, do I have to go to Waverley or can I catch the bus t Haymarket?

Oh that's not good. When is your journey?

If the train service normally stops at Haymarket, then the bus replacement will stop there. However, usually buses get very full and if you want to get a seat by a window you will stand at better chance of doing so if you get on at Waverley.

It would be unusual for a bus replacement on this journey as there are alternative rail routes available.

What date are you travelling?

Yes,I see what you mean.

It looks like trains terminating at Dundee will have a bus for part of journey.

Trains to Aberdeen via Dundee will be rerouted.

States that the bus will run from Haymarket to Inverkiething stopping at South Gyle. Not sure if you will already be in Edinburgh or if you are arriving at the airport then immediately going to Dundee?

From the airport you might be better off just taking the 747 bus to Inverkeithing train station and picking the train up there instead of backtracking to Haymarket or South Gyle

Edit :- I seem to have got that slightly wrong as there will still be a replacement bus between Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay so indeed you might as well just get the bus from Haymarket or South Gyle.

Could be easier just getting the X54 bus from Edinburgh bus station to Dundee or if arriving at the airport the 747 bus to Ferrytoll then the X54 as that is one of its stops.

If you have your train tickets already then the above idea is useless
