Tours to whisky distilleries

Traveling to St. Andrews soon and my husband wishes to include a tour to a whisky distillery (or 2).

Any suggestions with available private tours that also might include half day sights of the surrounding area?

Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

There is no distillery by St Andrews. Around an hour away, by Gleneagles, is Tullibardine distillery, while a little further there is Edradour and Blair Athol at Pitlochry, or Fettercairn north of Dundee and not too far from Glamis Castle. Most distilleries are in the Highlands and Islands, farther away.

I am not aware of any specific tours from St Andrews and would suggest that if you are not going to drive yourselves you will need to arrange a driver. You could try gandscabs.com or Club cars, both of which should be able to help with a distillery and sightseeing day.

It's a bit too late for you but they are in the process of setting up a distillery just 4-5 miles outside St. Andrews proper.

Eden Mill Distillery (set up and run by the same guys who run Eden Brewery - same location).

They hope to start distilling in mid-September - thecourier.co.uk/news/local/fife/plans-for-e…
