Bait, switch and blackmail

Having reserved a car via Ryanair, we arrive at the car rental desk at Beauvais Airport and were told that unless we take an insurance costing us €20 euro a day we would be charged €1200 for any and every scratch or dent that we will cause to the car, this was in total contradiction to the rules that were available at the desk for the customers information. The Clerk said that that does not apply in this case and still insisted that we take the insurance ... we decided not to be extorted by this company. On the car seat we found another note saying that we would have to pay €135 for cleaning the car if that was grass clippings or sand, dust etc on the carpet, the car was NOT fitted with mats so that one could not avoid soiling the carpet.

This is not acceptable, this is extortion, let Ryanair charge low prices and the company makes up the difference and more with these scams. The car was rented in my friends name Joanna Pullicino, we picked up the car on the 29th of May. Thank you Henry Borg Barthet

Ryanair does not run any rental cars. OK, you booked through Ryanair, but what was the actual rental company?

Why on earth would you put your friend’s name in this post? You do realize that Ryanair will never see this.

Review them where it counts and using the name of the actual rental company. And yeah, the business model of the rental car industry is hose the customer.

We have been using Europe car for years without a single issue. That said, to save ourselves the aggravation, we don't mind paying for full coverage through their insurance: an expense we factor into travel costs. No need to worry about any damage.

As to returning the car clean: it's nothing we ever had to worry about. We give it back to them in whatever state the car was in on the last day. The agent you were dealing with was probably giving you an unnecessary scare.
