Why don't you check the hotel review section? Alternatively, type in "Tours hotels" in the search box at the top. Once you get the results, you can filter according to prices and user ratings.

The following website lists all of the hotels, tours, and local activities:

www.ligeris.com

There are a number of 2 and 3 star hotels between Tours Centre (the train station) and Place Plumereau which would be easily reached on foot. The Hotel du Manoir is a popular choice is in a quiet location, near the train station, and but a short walk to other nearby points of interest.

From Paris, try to book one of the TGVs whcih terminates at Tours Centre. St Pierre des Corps is 3km from the center of Tours and is where most of the TGVs stop.

After September 2013 there will be a tram system which is currently being installed for 395 million euros. (thats 2 million euros per citizen of Tours)

Search Google and wikipidia for where it runs.

Plus staff costs, maintenance, depreciation, hand outs of free tickets to the "needy", replacement of rolling stock yada yada yada. Not to mention electricity costs.

It will be great when its done - yup.

Dear E Tours,

Tours is a city in France, not a transportation option for the unimaginative.

Thank you

Reverting to topic, and the present, if you want to have one or two side trips out of Tours itself, there are seeral chateaux that you can get to easilly by train - Amboise, Chenonceaux, Azey-le-Rideau and Chinon for example. Or you could consider a regional bus to Loches.
