Hi all. We are a family of five including 2 teenage children. We will be staying in Nantes during our visit to France for 3 days in August. I've never been to this region before. Can anyone recommend things to see and places to eat. In particular, we will be celebrating my daughter's birthday whilst here so want to book somewhere special. Thanks!

We took our 12 year old grandchild on a day trip to visit Les Machines de l'Isles this spring and she was just thrilled. Be sure to book the elephant ride early and make sure you time the visit for a day when the carousel with the Jules Verne inspired animals is running. In April it was only running for participants on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Here are snapshots from an earlier visit we made:

For a gorgeous over the top art deco room the restaurant La Cigale is a must -- Food is okay but the room is memorable.
The old castle is free to explore, There are a couple of villages nearby that might be worth exploring.
