How safe is Freiburg ?
As ad mid sized town (230.000 inhabitants) in Baden-Württemberg Freiburg is a very safe place to stay.
In comparison or with regards to?
Definitely very unsafe. It's much too easy to fall into the water channels that run down the centre of some streets.
When I was in Freiburg, I nearly got killed a couple of times by sneaky quiet trams trying to run me down. There was me, minding my business and walking over a red pedestrian light and a tram comes right at me.
Theres also extensive cobble stones in Freiburg, so you may twist your ankle.
I was reading that there was 1,296 stabbings in London just to the end of April (that nobody really mentions or paints the UK as being an unsafe destination to visit because of), but honestly Freiburg would probably scare you more.
You must excuse the joking above because Germans get annoyed by questions about safety in Germany. Germany is one of the safest countries on the planet and Freiburg is one of the safest towns in Germany.
